I guess it is going, sigh another one bites the dust.
I know Sinead said after they announced the deal with WBD that they would be keen to talk with Sky⌠but maybe that didnât go both ways lol
Unlike WBD, Sky probably donât want to fork out a cent under the deal.
They already are though for the Newshub product. I suspect itâs actually a logistical issue for Stuff.
I donât think Sky pays at all. WBD was buying the airtime essentially and sold the spots.
How much could they have possibly made from that? What a dud deal.
I think Sky was paying Eric Youngâs salary but I may be wrong.
All the content was essentially already there as it was Newshub aired anyway. Probably earned enough to make it worthwhile? (Although not for much longer)
Iâm pretty sure he was paid by Mediaworks/WBD like everyone else. Would explain how he used to fill in for DG on the AM show a while back. I know he also did bits for Sky Sport on occasion, but I suspect the latter might have just been a separate side gig. I know he was off air for months when Prime News first moved to Mediaworks because of some contractual issues, which would back up my assertion.
Not that this really matters, I suppose.
There was some weird thing there where Eric was contracted to Sky News AU and they wouldnât release him. I think I do have it around the wrong way thought maybe thinking about it but I thought theyâd brought it back under their salary.
Thatâs right they had Wayne Hay filling in on Prime for a while didnât they, when Mediaworks first took over production?
That was a little odd in itself as I think Wayne was still with Al Jazeera then⌠presumably he must have been on some sort of break from them at the time.
Simon Sheppard hosting tonightâs bulletin (5/6/2024).
It appears Pawn Stars is the Mo-Fr replacement for news First.
So theyâve given up all together? Donât put anything vaguely interesting or different at 5:30? They may as well bring back Hoganâs Heroes!
So much for the weâll look into keeping news on Sky Open! Such a waste to let that audience built up over many years disappear. News First is probably the only programme on Sky Open that draws a large audience. Oh the tragedy of it all.
I wonder if TVNZ were approached or had a look - could have been a revenue opportunity.
they should put at least some news content on their. even if itâs not local - such as nbc nightly news
Youâd be better off showing an australian news bulletin than US news not that I think either is a satisfactory state of affairs.
Supposedly there have been talks between Sky and TVNZ in the past. But they obviously never led anywhereâŚ
