Finally something of substance out of Rudd. That is a good hit.

Not sure what’s going on at the moment but the paywalls aren’t working on any of the news Corp websites. Been like that for a week.

The paywall is there on The Daily Telegraph site.

I’m not get any. And I cancelled a month ago.

It’s working on The Advertiser site.

It might have something to do with your old subscription. Maybe they accidentally renewed it or maybe some other technical issue reverted it.

it must be Monday… the ABC having to debunk a report in The Australian…

Prominent Sydney lawyer Chris Murphy is suing The Daily Telegraph after journalist Annette Sharp wrote in her column last year that Murphy “continues to battle with the ravages of age and with it the associated deafness that has kept him from representing his clients in court during the past year”.

Come on Samantha Armytage, join Chris Murphy and Karl Stefanovic with a case of your own!

News Corp is constructing a staff apartment building in Port Moresby opposite the PNG Post-Courier office. It will house 33 staff and family members, with other staff to get rental assistance and be given secure transport home. The project is in response to the increasing violence in Port Moresby. News Corp chairman Michael Miller told The Australian that the Post-Courier is a profitable business, and that they are committed to PNG.

Looks like the Superladder, which has been the feature of Herald Sun’s AFL wrap on Mondays for many years, has been dropped. The Superladder took up most of the page and included the traditional AFL ladder plus features like number of players used and upcoming matches, and a one paragraph comment on how the team fared in the round.

  • News Corp will cease distributing its titles to “certain parts of regional Queensland” at the end of September.

  • Regional centres, including Mount Isa and Longreach, will be affected.

  • Newsagents say the move could have a significant impact on the mental health of older people.

One of the eight titles News Corp will stop distributing is The Weekly Times, a rural weekly. One would have thought that it is very relevant to these areas.

It’s definitely bad news for certain Queensland towns after their local papers were bought by News Corp a couple of years ago, only to stop printing later.

The only major papers they are left to sell will be The Australian Financial Review.

The West did this some time ago in WA with its publications, not surprised Newscorp has followed.

News and Fairfax (now Nine and ACM) have been sharing printing and distribution in Queensland for at least three to four years. I’m thinking that future distribution of the AFR could be under threat (?).

That’s the first I hear of that. Is The Weekly Times stopping publication?

Turns out I misread your earlier post on the subject and conflated the end of print distribution in regional Queensland with the entire masthead being wound down.
