Oh come on, it’s just a bit of fun.
Don’t mention the bushfires. I did once but I think I got away with it.
Fawlty Towers brilliance! Never gets old.
News Corp accused of using Facebook in an attempt to try to manufacture a story.
An interesting response to Ronni Salt’s post.
Honestly this is standard operating procedure for the media at this point when it comes to social media groups.
Nothing unusual. Some of the best stories I’ve come across have been from Facebook community pages. Not really ‘manufacturing a story’, the issue of families being split at the border is a legitimate one. However, how News Corp Australia/DT will spin it is the question.
Not new - a work colleague was bombarded with requests after the Christchurch shooting, they found the shooter was facebook friend
Yeah I don’t see the issue here. Typical leftie Twitter folk trying to create any issue with NewsCorp. Yes, the Corp itself is problematic but many of the junior reporters are trying to do a good job.
Does anyone have trouble logging in to your News Corp digital subscription? When I tried to log in to my Herald Sun account to read the paper this morning, I received an error message.
EDIT: I spoke to a female operator at Herald Sun and she said the browser could be an issue. She said that the digital subscription often works best with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. I received an error message while using the current version of Firefox, but had no trouble logging in through the current version of Microsoft Edge. So it looks like I will have to browse the digital editions with Edge for the time being.
Saw this on Twitter tonight.
News Corp trying to headhunt reporters from Australian Community Media’s regional papers?
More than likely trying to hire back people on a significantly lower wage after the purge.
Isn’t that illegal? Or did that get scrapped? Knowing how much the Libs are up Rupe’s arse, it’s somehow perfectly acceptable (in their minds anyway)
I’d say they’re looking at replicating the model of all the regional papers they just stopped printing and turned into online only. They have Qld and Northern NSW covered so why not expand it across NSW and VIC…
On the subject of this though, it was reported on 7News CQ the other night that Star News was going to start printing a weekly paper for the region titled CQ Today beginning next month. Wonder if they’ll be doing the same in other regions and what impact (if any) it will have on the digital-only News mastheads.
News Corp doesn’t publish many papers in regional Victoria. The only one I can think of is Geelong Advertiser. Will The Weekly Times be affected too? It originated in Victoria but is now a national rural weekly published in Melbourne.
It’s a “new” position because the previous publications now no longer exist, even though the job would be near identical
News have “quietly” (reasonably non-descript ads on sites like seek etc) been attempting to recruit online journos for their NewsLocal venture for a little while now - they’re interested in getting started in ACM markets as soon as they can staff them
Oh that makes sense. It will be similar to the digital-only Canberra Star, Illawarra Star and Newcastle News.
Imagine the outrage from the commenters on that story.
Markson continues her shuffle around Nationwide News.
