Herald Sun’s Saturday editor Tracey Linguey and cartoonist David “Macca” McArthur are leaving the paper. Tracey and David have been working at the paper for 30 and 22 years respectively.

The Australian reports its parent company is launching five digital-only titles, starting in Newcastle next month. NewsLocal publisher John McGourty said there would be five digital mastheads by the end of July, taking the total to 23, with more on the drawing board over the next 12 months.

Veteran soccer writer Ray Gatt was one of 50 who applied for and was granted voluntary redundancy. He finished up at The Australian two weeks ago today, after 30 years with the paper. This was his tweet from June 3:

I’m not sure that pitching Body+Soul just at women is a wise move either. I’ve often looked at this lift out but if they’re telling me it’s just for women, I’d be more inclined to completely ignore it in future.
