Correct - the EPG says that they will be coming from the Garden of Unearthly Delights (located in Rundle Park in the north east of the CBD near the botanic gardens), which is part of the Adelaide Fringe.

I agree, it would be a disaster to completely lose Kath to radio, as she is one of the ABC’s very best presenters, who knows inherently how to engage with viewers … a rare talent. For what appears to be a perverse “robbing Peter to pay Paul” scenario, here is a quick recount of how it evolved.
Kath was scheduled as a replacement on Weekend Breakfast before Christmas, but the axing of Sarah MacDonald from Sydney Morning Radio had created unforeseen consequences. Hamish MacDonald was appointed as Sarah’s replacement, but clearly also wanted to maintain his role with Ch 10 The Project on Sundays. So to give him his two-day “weekend” (Fri/Sat), they needed someone for Fridays. The ABC pulled Kath from her coming Weekend Breakfast role and clearly ‘trialled’ her for the position the next week.
I think Kath baulked at this initially (didn’t turn up on Monday?), but took the reins for the next three days, in which she found herself interviewing the boss, Kim Williams. Usually rather urbane in his interviews, Kim appeared firm, almost aggressive with Kath’s pointed questions … but clearly she passed the trial and was duly appointed to the position for 2025. One gets the impression that Kim is going to be a more hands-on chairperson than his predecessors. He has stated many times that he wants to raise the ABC radio profile in particular, and arrest the slide in numbers.
I’m sure Kath will be back on our screens when she recovers from her injury, after all, her forte is as a TV presenter, and one day/week of radio is not going to pay the bills! But for the meantime, she is still in a moonboot and on crutches … not a good look for TV, although the ABC could be missing an opportunity to enhance it’s diversity program!
