Same - they’ve always announced it on air when the whole team is there (a rarity these days). I would also assume like @nationalnews mentioned they want Rowland to be there for the inauguration.
I do expect James Glenday to take over at some point, but it will more likely be sometime next year.
NB really seems to not understand what make it particularly successful during the MR and VT years - it covered real news. And any fluff they did was smart fluff with a smart interview by VT with an author like Richard Flanagan or a winner of the Archibald Prize.
Someone needs to look at why people were tuning into the show for a period - because it’s NEWS breakfast. Sure have a little bit of entertainment fluff (especially when it invovles Australian artists), but if it is a choice between a singer and news at the critical 6am-8am timeslot, then news should come first.
I guess Sunrise and Today could better negotiate the time he appeared on their show and maybe News Breakfast was left with whatever else was available.
I dare say George probably had a full diary of interviews this morning on the promotion trail. He probably did breakfast radio interviews in between.
If they wanted him on, maybe they could’ve done a pre-recorded interview at some point the day prior or during Today and air it tomorrow near the end of the program.
