yes. Him and Steve Graham had a massive falling out. They’re friends again now, but it was never the same after it happened.
My phone grabbed the tunes New played this morning starting just after 9. See the screenshot below
I prefer to have New on at work because there is some rock in the mix. I get bored of the same style listening to Hit (pop) or Triple M (rock)
Triple M regional is a mix too, but so bland and safe. This NEW FM snapshot is more newer and female skewing, but pretty safe as well.
screaming jets and lady gaga in the same list wtf if you agree with it your part of the problem
Yeah that seems to be a real hodge podge.
I’ve got no issue with it. I love the Jets and can tolerate Lady Gaga.
Triple M were playing that Lady Gaga song with Keith Urban and they play the Jets too.
Are we grabbing the pitchforks on that too?
1223 ABC Newcastle announces 2025 line-up
1233 ABC Newcastle has announced its 2025 line-up, with Paul Culliver to present the Breakfast program, Paul Turton remaining in Mornings, Jenny Marchant moving to the Drive show and Scott Bevan continuing with Saturday Breakfast.
After co-presenting weekday Breakfast for six years Jenny Marchant said she was excited about making the switch to Drive, which airs 3:00pm-6:00pm on weekdays.
“I’m looking forward to spending afternoons talking through the news and issues that affect us in the Hunter and hearing from our listeners, who make this the best job I can imagine,” she said.
Paul Culliver said he loved the relationship he’s built with the ABC Newcastle audience over the past 14 months hosting the Drive show. In the new year he will be setting his alarm for his new Breakfast timeslot of 5:30am-9:00am weekdays.
“I hope listeners will continue to put their trust in me to present a Breakfast show they want to be a part of," Culliver said.
“One of the best things about moving to Newcastle has been the ability to explore the region through our listeners and to learn why they love living here. I relish the discovery and surprise that happens during live radio – from hearing listeners’ silliest stories to providing a platform for the most important issues in the local community.”
Paul Turton, an ABC veteran for more than three decades, will continue to present the Morning program from 9:00-11:00am during the week.
Dan Cox will retain a strong presence in all programs, utilising his reporting background and deep audience connections.
Editor of 1233 ABC Radio Newcastle Lucia Hill said the station was looking forward to the fresh new year line-up.
“Our broadcast team does incredible work and these movements will capitalise on our team’s collective strength and unparalleled local knowledge,” she said.
“The changes will continue to grow our connection with the audience, deliver breaking stories and explore the concerns, issues and interests of the Newcastle community.”
Are 102.9 Triple M using a network jock after 3 or a local one?
Who retired/wasn’t renewed and what are they planning to do?
MMM running Summer Breakfast with Mike Duncan today.
I remember a time not so long ago when a CD said “over my dead body” when suggested Newcastle take regional network.
Especially when they’ve been taking network drive since the end of Rush Hour
Doesn’t help that they’ve sacked good local people and now there’s nobody left, won’t even give up and coming talent a run now which is quite disappointing.
So…is 2HD going to do anything special for their 100? Since they did mention it on their socials.
Also, I would not consider Chris Smith a “legendary broacaster”. “Legendary sex pest”, yes.
Getting RDS back on 90.5/97.5 and putting them in real stereo would be something.
If they wanted to do something REALLY special they’d ditch the network talk and go Classic Hits.
But that’d be asking too much, seemingly.
“A new way to talk in 2025”.
That’s a bald statement.
They could do the old “Meet Every Listener” that 2NUR does and do OBs from retirement villages and cemeteries.
I’m sure they’re not just in those places.
I mean, it is turning 100. Not a lot of organisations or people or whatevers turn 100.
Maybe an on-air special? Some giveaways, you know, that sort of thing. I’m not expecting it from the Caralis-eses (whats the plural of multiple Caralsis family members) but it’d be nice.
How long before people reply they’re missing John Laws on that Facebook post?
Closest to that was…
Yes, I did look through the comments. Yes I need more therapy.
TL:DR - they thought they were getting Ron Wilson, a lot of comments about his past, a lot about his ties to the right (context: Newcastle is fairly Labor dominated), and comparisons between him and whoever 2GB has.
Interesting that 2HD run local news bulletins during the networked Chris Smith show. I’m sure they were doing this previously with Laws too.
A good try by the station, but it does sound a little clunky at the end timing out - as there is no set finish time for SRN News, whereas Nine Radio does have set timeout times for network stations.
