New Zealand TV

I’m not too sure where to put this, so I’ll put it here.

Maori TVs main bulletin, Te Kaea, has rebranded to Te Ao Maori. No idea when it happened.

Rather nice graphics to go with it!

EDIT: It happened in Feb :upside_down_face:

Judging by that cap, the set doesn’t look too bad either. Would be good to see some of the local news services in regional Australia do something like that.

If you want to watch it - Sunday 6:00pm on NITV.

The all new Cafe studio starting to take shape. Season 4 starts April 1st on THREE

Are they still filming it at TVNZ?

I don’t think so looks as if its at the production office now

Anyone find it a bit odd that Mel is employed also the competitor, being NZME? Would Three have any input as to the presenters of the show?

Three could certainly choose not to buy it from Toe Rag Productions if they didn’t want to. I suspect it being on at 9am and only being a buy-in show means they don’t really mind.
I reckon it’d be different in prime time

Interesting to note looks like it will be sharing a space with Trudi Nelsons brand Fresh.co.nz

heaps of interesting stuff in this article on the new boss of Sky TV, but the new stuff around Prime might be of most interest here.

Step 1; Ditch the “Porkchop” logo at once.
Step 2; HD for FTA viewers & Prime +1 for DTT (SKY still own a nationwide frequency to do this)
Step 3; Ditch reruns of Married with Children & 3rd Rock from the Sun and buy some decent programming (including delayed sports to promote SKY). The whole idea of buying Prime in the first place was to promote SKY (and to keep FTA sports in-house).

I think sky does some bulk buys with some shows which is how they end up with random programmes, I always thought prime was a channel that is meant to preview what you can expect if you have sky. I think they should go with that idea. Have themed nights showing programes from other sky channels like discovery turbo or living channel ect

That was very much the plan, or was at least talked about when Sky did buy Prime

That would make a lot of sense…

Wonder how long Crowd goes wild will last under the new boss. And the agreement with mediaworks for prime news?

I’d say it will stay or be part of a wider sports line up.

Prime News I don’t think is going anywhere its easy money for sky and easy money for Media Works

The influence of the new boss has already been clear in recent weeks.

For the last couple of rounds in rugby’s Six Nations (from the Nothern Hemisphere), Sky did a pre-game and post-game show for all games anchored by Huw Beynon and with a panel of 3 players. Sky has never done that before, considering it’s in the middle of the night early breakfast hours .

My pick: Sky gets rid of its movie contracts, perhaps apart from Box Office premieres and retains maybe 1 movie channel.

Rather enjoying this podcast, dropping weekly. https://www.radionz.co.nz/programmes/the-worst-sitcom-ever-made

DWTS promos have dropped, caught one last night - neon themed, same song used in the “dance battle” ones rolled our last year.
