New Zealand TV

That’s been my only gripe, really. The rest isn’t that bad, but then, I’ve never had Sky. The last FTA cricket I remember watching was still analogue!

The ship has long sailed in regards to major sports being on FTA in this country. Indeed, not only has it sailed, but it has been decomissioned, sold for scrap and broken up.

FIFA World Cup 2026 Oceania Qualifiers will air next month on TVNZ+ and TVNZ2.

Chris Chang (Breakfast) will host the network’s coverage while Jason Pine (NZ’s lead football commentator) is on play-by-play duties.

Edit: Do remind you that the Final is happening on a Monday and will pre-empt Shortland Street airing, unless that episode gets released online on TVNZ+.

Schedule:

Friday 21 March: Semi Final 1 – New Caledonia v Tahiti, 3pm

Friday 21 March: Semi Final 2 – New Zealand v Fiji, 7pm

Monday 24 March: Final – 7pm

They could put it online at 7 and air it after the football - which is what I think they did for the Friends reunion a few years back.

My understanding is these graphics will not be seen on Super Rugby as Sky/Stan have agreed to have the same graphics package.

Nothing great, very 2004

The state-owned broadcaster made a net profit of $53.1 million for six months ended December, compared with a loss in the year earlier, though the result included a non-cash adjustment of $41.3m to remove costs already accounted for in the year earlier loss.

Otherwise, TVNZ made an underlying profit of $11.8m, with a 1.9 percent decline in revenue to $152.7m.

A drop in television advertising revenue was in contrast to a 16 percent year-on-year increase in digital revenue, accounting for about 25 percent of total revenue.

The full graphics reel from AE Live Ignite:

Feels like they came up with the ‘first light’ inspiration speak after choosing the lightstroke device, especially when other broadcasters on this continent had similar concepts before (Seven and Newshub). The body text looks a bit dull, but otherwise looking great - especially love the outlined club emblems.

Sport lives here tagline is very Kayo.

Not overly original and probably been used elsewhere too.

Doesn’t look too bad overall.

No matter how much the designers may have “borrowed”, it looks much better than their last package.
