I see this on Prime News as well, the cuts are definitely not hidden.
After leaving Foxtel, BeIN Sports is leaving Sky NZ at the end of the month.
The usual Thursday ep of CGW has been bumped to Friday 17:00 on Prime to accomodate the Womenâs Football WC. Wall-to-wall Prime-time FTA âround-ball kickâ tonight⌠when was the last time that happened in NZ?
Blow Up Australia debuted on Three last Sunday (July 16) as planned. It is shown only once a week, at 7pm Sundays.
Probably never, and never again given NZ obviously doesnât care about football. (shown by the low existing record for a crowd, the fact they are literally begging people to take free tickets to matches)
Probably would be different if held during the summer, and maybe in some of the more provincial areas.
They will now after tonightâs result.
Youâd hope so.
Absoutely awesome match.
Looking at the full NZ Cricket international match schedule for the upcoming summer, feel like TVNZ are making a mistake only showing T20 internationals on TVNZ1 while TVNZ Duke airs the tests and ODIs.
I get that they probably donât want to pre-empt The Chase/One News/Seven Sharp block if possible. However, surely TVNZ should be capitalising on a likely once-in-a-generation opportunity to have the rights to all NZ home internationals by airing as much of it as possible on their main channel? Alternatively, couldnât the tests and ODIs air on both TVNZ1 and TVNZ Duke with coverage switching to the latter when needed?
TVNZ Duke is showing the other sport deemed linear TV worthy from the Spark pack, so not a major surprise. Especially as Duke will show SuperSmash again this summer.
I think theyâve probably done the best thing by cricket fans, meaning they wonât have to wrap the day quickly at the close of day - allowing analysis etc.
Could simulcast as you say, but Duke will probably be findable for the casual viewer.
Duke was pretty much launched for this purpose though (sports & adventure), so viewers donât have to bungle around changing channels for the news. Itâs also in HD. I donât see why youâd want to make viewers change channels if you can avoid it. Plus you can x-promote it on TV1, to remind viewers Duke exists. Given Spark Sportsâ demise, and TVNZâs gain from that, itâs good to see them utilising Duke for itâs intended purpose.
DUKE is TVNZâs male skewed general entertainment and sport channel and loosely based on one of my dream television networkâs own channels, Bold, and its programme format/target demographic (i.e. 25-54 year old males), although this is off-topic.
TVNZâs main evening news usually screens at 6pm on TVNZ 1, as does Te Karere (at 4pm on weekdays), The Chase (at 5pm on a daily basis) and Seven Sharp (at 7pm on weeknights). While TVNZ 1 offers live coverage of the T20 cricket matches, the tests and ODIs will be shown on TVNZ DUKE in an effort to prevent TVNZ 1âs regular programming, including Te Karere, from being pre-empted or taken off the air.
On 2 January 1995 Te Karere was off air during the summer holiday period and a small group of MÄori protesters, led by veteran activist Ken Mair, occupied the studios of TVNZ in Auckland - shortly before the 6pm bulletin was due to go live to air. They were protesting about Te Karere not being broadcast at that time. Police were called and escorted the protesters from the studios; this allowed the bulletin to go to air some 10 minutes late.
In 2019, while a Rugby World Cup match was in progress via TVNZ 1, the 6pm bulletin was broadcast on TVNZ 2. At 7pm a âsecond editionâ was shown on TVNZ 1.
Warner Bros. Discovery have announced the first 5 FAST channels: Reality, True crime, Paranormal, House Hunters & 90 Day Fiance.
Gee, what a interesting lineup.
The finale of Million Dollar Australia will air on Three next Monday (July 31) at 7.30pm, following tonightâs broadcast on Seven in Australia.
This looks like high quality and intellectually stimulating content
Any details on a launch date?
Are these for Three Now?
Yep
