Awesome as me and my mum liked the series
I expect Shorty to move to TV One in the medium term to consolidate its audience as it struggles on TV2 at 7pm. If it wasnât for The Chase, Iâd see it at 530pm.
Whyâs that, because TVNZ is already replaying Shortland Street at 11pm on TVNZ 1 to have a additional audience as a earlier 7pm TVNZ 2 screening.
I donât see that happening, Shortland Street still pulls an audience for TVNZ 2 and why would you sacrifice Seven Sharp when both channels at 7pm are both number 1 & 2 in that time slot.
I agree, Shortland Street is suited to the younger character of TVNZ 2 as not much ratings is a plenty enough number these days.
Storyâs from a few days ago but it wasnât shared here so there you go.

Sky Chief Executive Sophie Moloney said: âThis renewed deal reflects the long-standing partnership between Sky and Warner Bros. Discovery, and the continued commitment of both companies to bringing Kiwis premium content and brands. Skyâs focus is ensuring audiences have access to the content they love in ways that work best for them. With that in mind, weâre thrilled that this new deal also has optionality at its core, giving us the flexibility to continue entertaining audiences across multiple platforms in the years ahead.â
Figured they would have tried to launch Max here at some point (or at least beef up ThreeNow), guess the current partnership is already a good moneymaker for Warner. Now if only Sky could fix Neonâs infrastructure so it could work more than half of the time.
There is still the possibility of Max launching and this deal includes the option for that.
It will be interesting to see what the content would be but I guess WBD have different options they have considered such as giving Sky first run rights for a limited time frame or restricting it to Sky channels rather than streaming. The streaming content is only a small part of the deal really as Sky rely on WBD for a lot of their content.
I have had little issues with Neon but that is only since they migrated to the Lightbox âplatformâ the original Neon was horrific to access and use.
Yeah I ever have any issues with Neon anymore.
I know this deal leaves the option open for Max but Iâm just not sure itâd be in WBDâs interest to set it up in NZ even with their local branch. It would probably require an infrastructure they donât have and would cost to set up.
A Warner Bros Discovery spokeswoman came it the filing from a different angle, saying: âThe deal provides optionality for the future launch of Max in New Zealand.â
But the Herald understands that Warner Bros Discoveryâs âoptionalityâ is a reference to the US firm having an option to launch Max in NZ after the current [multi-year] deal ends.
I wonder if given theyâre now keeping Discovery+ as a standalone streamer in the US, whether theyâll just launch that here? Much superior UX to ThreeNow if nothing else!
The Traitors New Zealand premieres on Three on Monday, August 7, and will air on Monday and Tuesday nights.
You canât cast from the website, so download the app on your mobile or tablet device. Never says thereâs a laptop appâŚ?
Looking through this ratecard, it seems like Three will be ditching their daytime movie at the end of the month and replacing it withâŚMarried At First Sight US. Yay for the Discoveryfication of our own networkâs daytime schedule.
Before (Friday 28th July):
After (Monday 31st July):
Not looking too good for TV3 but when has it ever not been in financial trouble of some sort.
Guessing their contract with whichever bargain basement provider gives them those movies comes to an end at the end of July. Theyâre pretty dreadful films, although the alternative isnât ideal!
I agree with @OnAir. In the old days daytime television was brimming with talk shows, real-life courtroom dramas, US soaps and some local content for daytime viewing, including magazine-style morning shows (e.g. Good Morning, The Cafe), a weekday cookery show, an advice panel show and a lifestyle show for the older folk (e.g. 50 Forward, which aired on TVNZ from 1992-94).
It shows on air too.
