It seems like TVNZ+ will introduce a dedicated sports section:
TVNZ Sport+ ?
(paid version)
Donât know. Thereâs a live and free mention there but paying for ad-free versions would be good.
@Michael_Eccles @OnAir I have a question for you to ask. What if TVNZ set up a linear television narrowcasting service for pubs, clubs and TAB stores, beaming live sport (in which the broadcast rights are secured by TVNZ) to as many patrons as possible?
could happen, I guess.
Or a relaunch of a non-commerical TVNZ Sport Extra which was closed in 2009.
Well they did have a pop-up channel for the tennis coverage (One Wimbledon)⌠and that eventually morphed into Duke. I wouldnât think theyâd intentionally launch anything now non-commercial though⌠the billâs have to be paid.
Yes, I know that since Willie Jackson wants to bring back the charter
Three are going to be airing Million Dollar Island Australia, (one week after it airs in Australia) once Tracked is finished. They were also meant to air Blow Up Australia in July after Lego Masters Australia Grand Masters, but based on how it rated in that might not happen anymore.
When will Three air a Australian version of The Traitors as a curtain raiser for a NZ version.
Not sure, but the traitors is meant to start in the first week of August.
TVNZ has announced full details of their sports offering which will be available on a dedicated sports section on TVNZ+. Additionally though, selected sports (e.g., NZ cricket and Manu Samoa rugby) and events (e.g., The Menâs Ashes, FIBA Menâs World Cup games and the Super Bowl) will also be simulcasted on either TVNZ1 or Duke.
While TVNZ+ will use the world feed for many events, TVNZ will have their own commentary team for local events headed up by Scotty Stevenson.
In addition to the rights list Timmy previously posted, TVNZ will also show:
-
NFL - three regular season games a week (2 live and 1 delayed), 12 playoff games and the Super Bowl.
-
Womenâs FA Cup and the Arnold Clark Cup
-
The Hockey NZ Oceania Cup (new acquisition); and
-
TVNZâs existing sports rights (namely the T20 BlackClash, King of the Ring kickboxing, the Tour of Southland and Extreme E).
Funnily enough, the package TVNZ Duke used to have when it first launched.
Thatâs a big haul. Sports fans will be loving it. And they can put the coverage on Duke so people dont complain.
Edit: I just hope they dont pack it full of ads. Something that TVNZ has form on.
Iâd willingly pay TVNZ for a paid streaming option online without ads.
Threenow are getting a pop-up Three Sport channel for Sail GP
The obvious answer is HGTV, right?
