Any videos for us here in Aus?
Because it is being filmed in Wellington they have no access to presenters who are stuck in Auckland, so are using people who have never presented a TV show before - let alone a LIVE show. This is so bad.
Fortunately, it is a sunny Saturday afternoon, so I doubt many people will actually be watching it.
Isnât this trying to get people to go out and get vaccinated? Maybe this was their plan after all: to scare people away from watching the TV!
By having something on TV, people would be more likely to stay inside and not go and get vaccinated, surely?
Hahaha you might be right! The whole concept is bizarre.
Man you guys are harsh. Theyâve put this thing together in like what, a month? It isnât that bad. Maybe you should open a beer for every differently branded mic sock or something⌠lighten up.
Agree. Iâm in Australia, but I think with everything thatâs happening at the moment, well done to the Wellington local crews/talent in getting this to air. It is what it is.
Agreed I think they are doing an awesome job and nice to see different faces hosting I especially like the fact Sonny Ngatai in the mix
It was a bit hokey, but hey - live TV and for the good of the community so Iâll allow it.
Adding to that - a lot of these people had never done any live TV before or 8 hours of it. It does show just how much of NZâs media is centralised (i.e. all of it in TV), but it was also good to see some new talent unearthed. Thought Anna Harcourt was superb in particular in terms of people I wasnât familiar with and thrusting Maia Wilson - a professional netballer - in to host was a bold call but I thought she was quite good too.
As for the point of it overall, look - I think we all know it was targeted at certain demographics of the population, a gentle encouragement from people like them, speaking their language(s) and singing their songs to go get jabbed wasnât a bad thing at all.

RFDS (Royal Flying Doctor Service) premieres on TVNZ1 next Monday (October 25) at 8.30pm.
Also, season 10 of The Voice Australia (first season to air on Seven and featuring new judges Rita Ora and Jessica Mauboy) started on TVNZ2 last night and will be shown on Thursday and Friday nights. I believe itâs the first time in several years The Voice Australia is on air in NZ.
Sky Television New Zealand has unveiled its new white 4k next generation set top box to launch mid 2022 at its annual general meeting today.
More from the horsesâ mouthpiece here, see Page 9, 29 & 30 (although thereâs not that much detail).
Interesting quote about Prime with Sky wanting to refocus its efforts on the channel. Sounds like more local content for the free to air channel, ofcourse with the ongoing support of NZ on Air.
Some focus would be nice. Primeâs been a basket-case for at least five years now. Itâs about time they figured out what they want it to be.
Will they focus on programmes what previously streamed on Neon and SKY TV pay channels? Plus the new strategy which sports events which is slowly moving away to bigger rivals such as TVNZ and Three
TVNZ will fasttrack Big Brother VIP which began in Australia tonight. The show will air on TVNZ2 at 9.35pm on Tuesdays-Thursdays from tomorrow (November 2), with each episode shown one day after the Australian broadcast.
Yay looking forward to it
According to Newsroom, a decision about a potential TVNZ/RNZ merger now wonât be made until sometime in 2022. Quoting from the article:
The shift in timing is attributed to the Cabinet workload with the Covid response rather than the public broadcasting project being thrown into jeopardy.
[Media Minister Kris] Faafoi is said to be seeking sufficient time for his Cabinet colleagues to fully consider the proposals.
