I’d like them to go down the Irish route maybe, something which is fully in Maori, then abbreviated. (In saying this, it would annoy a small minority of white NZ for reasons?? They can always tune into Mediaworks.)
Here’s a few based ideas, some based on my (very, very basic knowledge) of Maori, mainly using Maori Dictionary (Most likely will butcher all of these, sorry), along with some English ones.
- RTI - Reo Terewhina Irirangi o Aotearoa (Television Radio NZ)
- RIT - Reo Irirangi Terewhina o Aotearoa (Radio Television NZ)
- PA - Paho Aotearoa (Broadcasting NZ)
- PTIA - Paho Terewhina Irirangi o Aotearoa (Television Radio Broadcasting NZ)
- RTA - Radio Television Aotearoa
- NBC - New Zealand Broadcasting Corp. (If, for some reason, they missed out the Z)
- ABC - Aotearoa Broadcasting Corp. (Because two clearly isn’t enough)
Maori is difficult because there are various words for each depending on the context, but I tried my best. Let me know if I’ve butchered anything, or if you agree/disagree with me.
