I remember reading that Spark Sport partnered up with Discovery/TV3 for the 2023 RWC bid which meant Sky mounted a rival bid with TVNZ. So TVNZ would be the likely broadcaster.
The Commonwealth Games have begun and here’s a taste of augmented reality graphics during Prime’s free-to-air coverage. Sky and its free-to-air channel, Prime, are the official broadcasters of the Games. The augmented reality graphics offer viewers detailed information profiling our athletes and dissecting their performance for an immersive storytelling edge.
There’s also a special ticker at the bottom of the screen - the latest news and results from the Games as they arrive, a rundown of what’s coming up on Prime and lists of events shown on Sky’s dedicated Commonwealth Games channels (at the time of transmission).
Freeview NZ has a new boss and I’m hoping he really does something to reinvigorate it:
Hope he can finally add the +1 channels to the streaming app.
Hrm. I wish the timeshift services would be streamed live so that people could catch up on their favourite programmes one hour later in case they missed them…
Snack Masters Australia premieres on TVNZ2 next Monday (August 8) at 8.40pm, after MasterChef Australia.
Unlike Australia, the NZ broadcast will begin with episode 2, Cadbury Favourites.
The show has been renewed for a second season.
A NZ version of Snack Masters aired on TVNZ in April this year.
Why?
I wouldn’t count on it.
I’d imagine the networks take the attitude that if you missed it, you can catch up on demand, rather than streaming on a +1.
Vodafone TV streamed the plus 1 channels, I don’t see why Freeview cannot do it tbh.
The Feed goes to air every weekday on TVNZ 2 from 3.30-5pm. I may have noticed that programmes that screen in The Feed have a customised programme return graphic (PRG), which includes the classification and a ‘CC’ (closed captioning) icon instead of the ear icon, as shown below:
An ear icon usually appears on screen at the start of programmes with captions for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. Captions are produced by Able with funding from NZ On Air.
What do you reckon?
TVNZ Sunday is 20 years old - not sure if this was yesterday or from filming today.

UPDATED 14/8/2022
Due to the passing of Olivia Newton-John, Three has made programming changes for Friday 7:30pm as it will play the 1978 hit film, Grease, which also stars Olivia herself and John Travolta.
It will replace the network premiere of 2020 disaster film, Greenland.
In Australia tonight, Channel 9 will also air the hit-musicial film at 8:45pm (AEST).
Thats so lovely they’re doing that
Australian true crime series Million Dollar Murders premieres on Three on Wednesday, August 17 at 9.40pm.
Can Three screen Greenland next Friday?
Prime will air the exclusive interview, Tova Meets Zelenskyy next Monday 7:30pm (August 22).
Today FM host and journalist, Tova O’Brien will meet Ukraine president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a one-on-one NZ exclusive interview speaking on the war with Russia.
The interview itself, of course, will air on radio tomorrow morning on Tova’s show. Neon will stream the special, next day after Prime’s airing.
Noticed Sky have been showing non-All Blacks international fixtures live on Prime this year. They showed both Maori All Blacks games live and are now showing the Black Ferns game live.
I am wondering if SKY is going to air live free to air All Blacks matches on FTA channel Prime anytime soon?
