New Zealand Radio

It’s not his first time putting his thoughts on that issue either.

It will be interesting to see how SENZ goes. I will give it longer than 6 months by using their Sydney stations appalling ratings as the basis of how long they persist.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what local content does NewsTalk ZB produce for each area?

Local morning shows (9-12) in Wellington (returned yesterday after a 2 year hiatus) and Christchurch.

Weekend sports shows 7-9 or 8-9 in most markets around the country.

So there’s no sort of local bulletins throughout the day?

Wellington and Christchurch also do local bulletins 6a-12 Monday to Friday. Auckland has local bulletins 7am and 8am.

Oh Sam Casey… as in Lashes who was producer on The Country?

To be honest, the much bigger departure is Jason Pine

What, he’s left?! Thought it was weird in the media day, they barely mentioned him, just a very quick ‘after 7pm will be Overtime with Jason Pine’… and then moved on

But wasn’t he going to be content director?

5th para of the story I linked.

He stood down as CD a couple of weeks ago but has now left outright.

Crazy. What a shit show. Wonder if NZME will take him back.

It doesn’t bode well for SENZ that someone as respected in the local industry as Jason Pine has left before it starts.

According to previous press releases, SENZ would establish radio studios in Auckland and Wellington and would produce local sports content from both studios. But with Jason Pine (who is based in Wellington and was appointed to the role of content manager at SENZ) now left, will SENZ produce local sports content from Auckland as its only location?

i would have thought this station would have used someone like stephen mcivor to front a show he was good when he did the winfield cup/nrl shows
nathan rarere was also a name that springs to Mind

He’s doing 5-6am weekdays on the National, so they’d have to buy out his contract.

Jason Pine returning to Newstalk ZB. I understand he will be their Wellington morning newsreader (he used to be their sports reader).

With Jason Pine back on ZB, who’s going to present Nights on SENZ and become responsible for running SENZ?

Good question @PaddyTePou
