Callum Proctor leaving The Hits Dunedin on November 20th. It will be the end of Callum and P after 11 years together on breakfast radio in Dunedin.

They have said a local breakfast show will continue with a replacement to join P (Patrina Roche).

It looks like The Edge could possibly be switching back to their “All The Hits” slogan from 2016-2018 as i’ve seen it pop up a few times over the last few days. If true then this would be replacing the slogan “Hit Music Now” which was dropped in 2016 and reintroduced earlier this year.

Magic Talk moving to the new Hargreaves Street studios on Monday . The final station to move over.

Though it probably won’t be used a heck of a lot given The AM Show will still be coming from the Tv/radio studio at TV3 Flower Street, Peter Williams based in Tauranga & Sean Plunket mostly from Wellington.

Plus the technical producers and executive producer also use the studio space.

can I ask what replaced the Radio Sport network. I hear them playing music on ex R.Sport frequencies like 1377 & 1503. Are they relaying the Magic network?

It’s Gold.

NZ -RADIO LICENCES

Pacific Star Network Limited (PNW) is pleased to announce itssubsidiary Sports Entertainment Network Pty Ltd(formerly Crocmedia Pty Ltd) (SEN) has entered into exclusive negotiations with TAB NZ to acquire Broadcast Rights and Distribution Assets for their 29 AM/FM radio licences across New Zealand.

The Heads of Agreement was signed today and signing of formal agreements are subject to negotiation, Due Diligence and Board Approval. SEN intends to launch a sports and racing media network across New Zealand called SENZ.
Should the transaction proceed consideration for the acquisition is not material and will be funded from existing cash reserves and borrowings. The acquisition is expected to deliver an immaterial contribution to FY21 earnings, however, provide greater longer-term EBITDA growth in future financial years.

RE: Gold SEN can use the same playlist as 2CH then . I don’t think this means they are planning to relaunch Radio Sports under the SEN banner. I am sure they would like to though.

2020 NZME and Māori Television launch new content partnership deal

New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME) and Māori Television have launched a new content partnership that will see journalism and content shared across each other’s major news platforms - the New Zealand Herald (NZME) and Te Ao Māori (Māori Television).

Māori Television is New Zealand’s indigenous broadcaster, providing a wide range of local and international programmes with a strong focus on delivering world-class news and current affairs content for its television broadcast and online audiences.

NZME’s nzherald.co.nz is the biggest and most popular news website in New Zealand and The New Zealand Herald is the country’s most widely read newspaper.

“NZME and Māori Television have a like mind when it comes to a focus on ensuring our audiences have access to the widest possible range of quality journalism,” said NZME Managing Editor Shayne Currie.

“We hold the work of Māori Television’s journalists in incredibly high regard. To be able to publish and post more stories from a Māori news perspective on our platforms is great for New Zealand Herald audiences,” said Currie.

Māori Television‘s strategy, Te Huapae focuses on three key areas: audiences, staff, and partners. Māori Television Chief Executive, Shane Taurima says collaborating with NZME positively impacts all three.

“The partnership with NZME not only widens the range of news content on our platforms, it brings our own stories to new audiences. I’m also excited about the learning and development opportunities both organisations will offer staff.

“Māori Television’s core remit is to support the revitalisation of te reo and tikanga Māori. We look forward to working with NZME to achieve this outcome,” said Taurima.

Editorial teams from the New Zealand Herald and Te Ao Maori have started sharing stories across their platforms from today.

Sports Entertainment Network Pty Ltd (SEN) was established by journalists James Swanwick and Craig Hutchison as Crocmedia Pty Ltd in 2006. SEN is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pacific Star Network Limited and its headquarters is in Melbourne, Australia.

SEN started off as Crocmedia in the United States as a public relations company selling entertainment and news content, but the main focus was switched to sport and the company produces content relating to Aussie Rules (AFL), football, rugby league, golf and horse racing which is broadcast on hundreds of radio stations throughout Australia since entering the mainstream in late 2009.

Here in New Zealand, Radio Sport (owned and operated by NZME) closed its doors in March and TAB Trackside Radio (owned and operated by TAB NZ) was suspended in April. This was due to the Covid-19 pandemic. To fill the gap, SEN recently entered into exclusive negotiations with TAB NZ (the owner of 29 AM/FM radio licences) to acquire broadcast rights and distribution assets.

A New Zealand based sports and racing media network, to be known as SENZ, is in the pipeline.

So guessing this means no more Gold AM?

If so there goes a good choice of music on the AM band again :frowning:

Different frequencies.
Gold AM was formerly Radio Sport’s frequencies, the TAB owned frequencies previously broadcast Trackside.

I made the same mistake too. I would of not been surprise (winding back the clock), SEN took over Radio Sport. It would of been a perfect fit. Not that I think the Gold network is a bad thing.

I think SEN are better off in Sydney playing classic hits and sports rather than full-time sport. NZ might be a different market , maybe 24/7 sports works. It is a shame I say “NZ”, it seems like there doesn’t seem to be huge difference between radio in Wellington vs Auckland for example.

Interesting SKY TV NZ made a play to purchase them a couple of times I was told, but this was a decade or so ago.

I can see them doing it on the cheap. 6-9 local breakfast perhaps followed by feeding in Voss from Sydney

Can’t find the original post, but it’s called SENZ, as it is on lots of frequencies, whereas SEN1116 is on 1116AM, etc.

@theGradyConnell What have mediaworks been doing with the surplus studio gear from the old studios?

Some of it would be good to reuse for other studios across the country wouldn’t it?

I’ve been wondering the same thing!

Likely will be used to upgrade and add new features to existing studios or be put into storage for when gear breaks down and needs replacing.

It’s only gear from 2016 and it’s the gear they put into the upgraded studios around the country till the Hargreaves gear and design which I would assume will be the gear they buy for new studio spaces going forward.
