Flava can still be heard in Rotorua (89.3FM) and Dunedin (106.2FM), but I don’t know if Gold will take over broadcasting on those markets. Gold AM already broadcasts to Rotorua and Dunedin respectively.
I think that’s a smart play. Mai has to speak to a national audience of sorts (even if its major power base is in Auckland), while Flava could become more local and target in that way. Not saying it will work, but worth a shot. Rotorua and Dunedin (especially) never going to be big markets for them.
Correction: In Rotorua it’s actually 89.5FM, not 89.3FM.
new drive Host on the Sound
Dave White, he was on hauraki in the 90s
Not sure if the Acoustic Sunrise is dropped, but Mark Perry said on air yesterday it was his last show. And signed off with “Have a great life”.
I guess they are just cutting a lot of contractors.
it was said later he is moving on
but the show is carrying on
Seems weekends on most music stations will soon be the full time jocks voice tracking liners and introducing songs, recorded during the week. But listeners are probably happy with the minimal chatter.
The Breeze announcer free tonight since 7pm (Monday). Another cutback?
A lot of radio stations already operate like this on weekends already. The Sound operates likes this outside of breakfast on weekdays but that’s part of its appeal. On weekends some appear to be partly live for some of the shift and the rest is prerecorded. The Hits seems to do this.
i guess if you wanted chat you would listen to talkback
not bothered if the music shows are live or not
i listen for the Music
