He is doing weekends….I think it was just a straight swap
Corin Dann being moved aside it seems as Morning Report host - will become RNZ’s business editor.
Great move
@OnAir I have a question to ask. With Corin Dann replacing Gyles Beckford as RNZ’s business editor, who will replace Corin as co-anchor of Morning Report?
Good question. Think it’s wide open Paddy. I think there’s plenty of options but not sure about who the best would be.
The Herald’s Media Insider had a story about exactly this on Friday: https://archive.ph/p9Hth
John Campbell would be an interesting option - he’s done radio before - but I don’t know if he would even be interested in the role.
Gisborne’s workplace social club with Nat… Its a bit wordy, dont you think. Also that graphic is atrocious. They didnt need to use the same or similar font to the new logo.
Otherwise, its great to hear new local voices on air
Yea what the hell is a workplace social club as a radio show name? Waffly as anything.
Whats worse is that the name has been around for nearly a decade!
I notice the ‘Si and Lana’ name becoming more prominent as the show brand as opposed to The Breakfast Club, will be glad to see that name go as well.
TBH I think they should just rebrand as Si FM
Breakfast Club > Si’s Breakfast (with Lana)
Workplace Social Club > Si Work Club
Si Drive
Si Nights
Overnights > Sleep with Si
Etc
Great to see local shows returning!
But the More FM branding is awful. That font is ugly and hard to read. And drop the “workplace social club” already - it’s old school radio and kinda cringe.
Good to see more local shows, but who are Nat (I presume Nathan) and Jane? Are they new to the radio industry? I haven’t heard of them before. If so, good to see some new talent getting a chance.
I wonder if they’ll increase local hours on the More FM’s now? I think some are 100% networked these days, sadly ![]()
I describe Si FM, the new name for More FM (though this is hypothetical), as a homage to Simon Barnett.
Some sneak peak shots of the new More FM Christchurch studio (Thanks Lana Searle’s instagram). Identicial to the Hargreaves St setup pretty much.
It’s official. Radio advertising will be heard on public holidays like Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Christmas Day etc.
One interesting spinoff might be whether ZB continues to offer up large swathes of Good Friday and Christmas Day to the Christian Broadcasting Association still
Does the CBA pay for that airtime?
Yes and it is via fundraising.
Advertising free radio and TV on those days was the last bastion of a non-commericalised NZ. I feel like we have lost something yesterday.
