It seems like theyāve completely dropped their last remaining 60s music overnight too. Thatās a real bummer as I love 60s music and it indicates that they are just going to become a copycat of the breeze in the future (as they dropped their sixties around seven or eight years ago, and now their playlist probably has like maximum 500 songs, it is extremely repetitive)

Oh thatās a shame. They were one of the last national brands to still play that era of music. Made a nice change from all the 80s spam when flicking through the stations.

Yeah, Ive noticed that with the playlist now. Thats why I stopped listening to it. Just listening to my personal collection, and YouTube now. There is an LPFM station where I am that plays music from the 30ās to the present day, which has a good mix. One of the things I like about it, as you literally do not know what song will be played next.

Unfortunately you are going to get more 80ās spam now. Quite frankly I cannot stand most 80ās music.
I love 80s music but the problem is these days stations play about 3% of the hits that came out in that facade, on endless repeat. So many great songs that even charted well that never get a spin. Itās so narrow.

Hereās a question to test someoneās memory - when did a Classic Hits Sunday with Grant Seaton (sp?) run from-to? I know they were happening in at least 1989. When Radio Scenicland converted to FM in November 1992, they were still happening then. I moved to Dunedin in 1994 and Classic Hits 89.4 didnāt carry the show, and I didnāt hear it again after that.
Also what happened to Grant Seaton afterwards? I remember the show came out of 2ZA but thatās long gone now.
There are hundreds of songs from the 80s that - while not big chart hits - still got plenty of airplay, and yes, people remember them. Itās just unfortunate that the stations now arenāt really interested in playing those ones; I always believe that a little variety never goes astray, and itās not like it would cost them anything to play something different once in a while.
Back in 1998 a German acquaintance introduced me to the local station in his hometown in Germany. Suddenly I was hearing all these songs I hadnāt heard for at least a decade or more, played every hour. Sure, the announcers all spoke in German, but the music was about 95% English-language. It got me to thinking, I remember all these songs; why doesnāt the local station here play them? A lot would have (just) fit into B90FMās format. ZM Wellington was the worst for the lack of variety: in the mid-to-late 90s their playlist seemed to consist of the same 16 songs every single day, with maybe a couple of random ones here and there (as Iāve said previously). Otherwise it was absolutely tedious and boring to listen to, music-wise.

Tremain, a former cartoonist with the Otago Daily Times, has provided Plunket with financial support for The Platform, and in return has received a 5% stake in the company.
Interesting, I wonder if any other investors will step up now? I wonder how heās doing financially? I know a few people that listen to The Platform, but I donāt think they would pay anything to do it.

I donāt think that will be happening. Maybe theyāll do something like The Sound did and add more newer songs. possibly trying to compete with Coast.
Thereās no way theyāre adding 50s songs back in - the market for that is literally dying.

Maybe Magic Talk is making a comeback 
Thatās the format both magic and coast began with ie the 50s but now moved on picking magic will include 80s soft music
