If I was 20 years younger I’d be totally keen on that!!

No… not yet anyway… Sharnah Pascoe-Scouller hosting Nights till the end of the year

Great move to make it a more personality driven shift, I quite enjoy these two as they were doing a Saturday breakfast show together as well.

Great postcard!

I agree with @OnAir that 1998-99 seems likely, checking a few of the frequencies.

The biggest clue in this postcard as to its age is the mention of ‘groovy tunes’. If we can identify when and if RNZ ever played groovy tunes, even on what particular day, then we’ve got this nailed.

@nztv As a recap Sharnah Pascoe-Scouller, who is new to New Zealand radio, recently took over from Cal Payne (who has moved to co-hosting The Edge Days with Yasmina [Yas] Coe) as host of The Edge’s night slot (7pm to midnight), although that role is temporary and a permanent host for next year is yet to be decided by MediaWorks.

Hey guys. Has anyone been listening to Coast in the last few days, it sounds like that they have rebranded and I am really not liking the new version, basically going down the same path The Breeze did about eight years ago. Coast has gone quite downhill this year

Listening to it today, updated imaging but this is mostly likely driven by the fact that the person who did their imaging voice overs now works on air at Mediaworks so time for a change. Music much the same, fortunately.

I get what tou are saying about coast yes they are now going by the tagline “feel good 80s “ & they seem too play %95 80’s in each hour which to me is overkill.

I would prefer if coast played 70’s - 90’s variety with shorter news bulletins .

I do feel going more 80’s less variety is going to be coasts downfall

I miss the Coast of 15-20 years ago, when it played music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. That was the perfect station IMO.

Angelina Grey (ex-Radio Hauraki days) is the new Coast station voice. She’s also the current station voice of Hauraki so I wonder if Hauraki’s imaging is also being refreshed?

I was wondering if it was Angelina, a bit different from the Hauraki stuff, so wasn’t too sure.

You just described Magic

Mum and dad used to be coast listeners for many years but since they changed their music and played more utd music they now switch to magic

?

utd = up to date perhaps???

Sorry meant updated music ie 80s and 90s

Reading the stuff article this morning regarding the health battle facing Melanie Homer wishing her all the best

No, Magic is starting to shift forward into the 1980’s. It has quietly dropped 50’s music, and is getting a more narrow, repetitive playlist. Though from the sounds of it, other brands are tending to be the same. Plus Coast was more geared towards Beautiful Music/Traditional Pop than Magic is.

You’re right, I was probably thinking more of Magic in the, uh, “olden days”
