It would be wiser to invest your money in Lotto tickets than The Platform.
Wouldnât surprise me if this is the plan going forward. He would have a loyal following who would pay to keep him around.
According to the information from Radio Spectrum Management (RSM), NZME Radio Limited was the winning bidder for the 105.2FM frequency from the Hedgehope transmitter in the Auction 29 results. The final sale price was $45,300 (including GST).
The new FM frequency would indeed allow Newstalk ZB (through NZME) to broadcast on 105.2FM in Southland. This provides an FM option in addition to the existing 864AM frequency.
On the other hand, The Breeze (through MediaWorks) currently broadcasts on two separate frequencies - 90.8FM in Whangarei (from the Parahaki transmitter) and 100.7FM in the Mid-Northland area (from the Kaikohe/Hikurangi transmitter) - and it is intended that The Breeze would move to 90.8FM and Magic would launch on 100.7FM in Mid-Northland.
Correct me if Iâm wrong.
Adam Percival returning to More FM - Drive with Sarah Gandy according to the show page on rova
Gareth Lischner new Breeze network Breakfast host (replacing Adam)
@nztv With Adam Percival returning to More FM and Gareth Lischner taking over as host of The Breezeâs network breakfast, I have a question to ask.
Has Adam moved to Auckland (where More FMâs drive slot is produced and Sarah Gandy is based) or is he still in Christchurch?
Big news from Mediaworks; looking they will be selling some radio stations (potentially?) and the company will split.
Outdoor advertising and radio media firm MediaWorks will split into two, with its outdoor business to be rebranded QMS, reporting directly to its Australian overlord.
That⌠will leave MediaWorksâ radio brands - including The Breeze, The Edge, More FM, The Sound, Mai FM and The Rock, as well as digital audio platform Rova - as a standalone operation, and ripe for a potential sale.
It better not be sold to NZME.
I think the comcom would prevent that.
Potentially not. NZME may be allowed to purchase George FM, channel X, Humm, The Sound and Magic since it doesnât have competing brands. But this is unlikely though and I imagine MW would want the business to be sold completely not by individual brands.
Stuff on the other hand⌠Print, Digital, News, Trade Me, TV and Radio - that would be a very desirable mix of media assets and would totally overpower NZMEâs dominance.
Surely they wouldnât be splitting off network brands? It would more likely be local stations/frequencies/studioâs are still lurking about the place - duplications and minnows.
Sadly not as many as there used to be - for example, I know that Sounds FM in Blenheim moved recently from their (very nice) former studios, to basically a shed just up the road. I have no idea if they can even do a local show from there anymore. Such a shame really.
Stuff would be a good buyer for the MW radio channels, to keep them in NZ hands and continue to provide competition ti NZME.
Wonder who would most likely take a look out of the Australia radio networks , If any?
Probably none. ARN exited the NZ market a while ago and SCA is looking to sell. I canât see Nine or Nova buying them.
Looks like a summer-time poster?
âSky Digitalâ, so after 1998, right?
And before 2007 when they rebranded as RNZ National.
Not sure a frequency search would help, as most of those would have been operational by the mid 1990s, I think (even as tiny-town ones).
I can recall getting sent something from RNZ with that postcard (which I no longer have) arojnd 1998-99.
I donât know if anyone seen, or heard but Cal from Edge Nights is now joining Yas to host Workdays.
I remember that Edge did had double hosts on Workdays (10-3) before way back.
Are they binning their night show?
With The Edgeâs daytime slot (10am-3pm) receiving an overhaul and Cal now joining Yas as co-host, it is intended that Calâs replacement (for The Edge Nights [featuring The Edge Top 20; 7pm to midnight]) is yet to be decided. However, only time will tell.
