Indeed… the numbers were bleak. But talk radio as a whole was losing audience - the drop off in listeners post-COVID. I think ZB’s dominance will likely continue for years to come with no decent competitor to take it on.

I thought simon was going to be the main anchor hence the reason for returning to more fm unless this is his way of slowing down and less pressure

Old habits die hard when it comes to talk radio…when you have a brand people are used to ie zb it is hard for a new player to make people change hence today fm and prior to that magic talk suffered

Just listening to More Queenstown and (I might be out of the loop here) they’re got a nice ‘From Resort Radio to More FM, proudly serving the Queenstown community for however many years’ liner touching on their history.

Is this old news hah? Has anyone heard any others from around the country?

Yep, Southland has had one mentioning Foveaux FM for a while now.

I wonder if they do one for Fifeshire in Nelson or Sounds in Blenheim?
Kind of nice they do this, I got the feeling as soon as they were rebranded to being More FM’s that it was a case of “forget all the history of the heritage stations, networking is the only way forward now”.

:open_mouth: holy cow Today FM absolutely sucked in the ratings department. I knew they were struggling but had no idea it was that bad.
Kinda surprised to see the station that replaced it with just music and no DJ’s rating so much better - but maybe there just wasn’t enough of an audience for Today’s content? A pity as I know the team doubtless worked very hard to make it work.

Setup of the ANZ Donation Station raising funds for the Cancer Society. “Telethon” style radio show takeover using NZME’s talent - live on ZM and on iHeart, and live video on zmonline.

Really impressive OB and the video coverage is actually really cool - they’ve been cutting to Brooke (nights host) who has been doing interviews and games during the radio commercial breaks.
