Depends if they are after an announcer gig only or a programming job, the job description makes it sounds like a programming role with announcing being one part of the role.
Brad Watson might be a possibility, maybe a bit young for Magic but has the programming experience.
Remeber, he currently does a weekday afternoon show on The Platform since it launched.
If heās on The Platform now (I donāt know as I donāt listen to it) thereās absolutely no way Mediaworks would be interested in him.
Is Melanie Homer not working anywhere at the moment? I hear her bouncing around between NZME and Mediaworks.
Mark Bunting? Maybe he could return but without knowing the background behind his departureā¦could be good if he came back but I donāt know how that would fit in with his other work.
The platform is solely internet radio based launched by sean plunket and i think michael laws featured on it also
Re magic driveā¦would be interesting to see who they choose.
Nice write up online about mark richardson and he has bounced back after losing a swag of media work in the last little while
Including when today fm was axed
Goes to show when media personalities lose jobs there is always a human element
(Same as day to day people)
Mel homer has done work on magic ie sunday arvos so wouldnāt be out of place i also thought mark smith would have just slotted in as a direct replacement
It looks like sound news has changed it sounds like just a headline grab instead of a 2 or 3 minutes bulletin
I thought all that happened after Today FM closed down a year ago? Certainly I remember news on The Breeze changing to be short-and-sweet around that time.
Just tuned into the The Sound news at 2pm and I see what you mean @Rod_Van_Alphen.
Itās maybe a little more punchy than their bulletin for The Breeze, More etc.
vo: āThis is Sound News Briefā. Hi Iām Geoff. Well that was embarrassing. The Black Caps beaten by 172 runs by the Aussies in the first cricket test at the Basin Reserve. Remember we didnāt pick a specialist spinner. Nathan Lyon took 10 wickets for the Aussies. One person is reported to have died following a workplace incident in Mount Wellington this morning. The death is not being treated as suspicious. WorkSafe has been notified. And heading into a new week, MetService is forecasting widespread severe weather for parts of the country as an intense trough of low pressure closes in from the west. In sport, other than the cricket the All Blacks Sevens lost 28-19 to the USA this afternoon at the world series event in LA finishing third in their group. And the Black Fern Sevens play Fiji in just on 20 minutes.
Their bulletin across other stations starts with āGood afternoon to you Iām Geoff Bryan with the latest at 2ā leading with
Labour MP Peeni Henare admitting on Q+A this morning there were significant challenges in getting the Maori Health Authority to perform
Workplace incident in Mount Wellington
South Island motorists warned of delays on SH1 as power lines are replaced
Russia and Ukraine have traded drone attacks on apartment buildings in major cities
In sport, well that was embarrassing (Black Caps)
All Blacks Sevens
Black Fern Sevens
And the new NRL season, that kicks off at 3:30 this afternoon
