It is really, with Paul Ego joining next year I wonder if the show is on borrowed time in Christchurch. I don’t think Lana or Adam have the pulling power to keep it there if management want the job done up in Auckland.
I get that, The Breeze and Coast are big on 80’s at the moment so not sure what the point of Magic doing it is, pure assumption that a particular demographic only want’s to listen to the music that was around when they were growing up?
How many drive shows incarnations is Sharyn Casey up to? Much like Flynny on ZM.
Indeed, not a destination drive show so Sarah (or anybody) will do well in that slot.
Definitely a rubbish way to end things, one of the consistent and loyal personalities on The Hits. Hopefully she lands another role soon enough.
Anybody still convinced she left a role on a high profile and high rating breakfast show for a job such as this?
I think The Edge is finally on the right track with those changes, though I would have kept Nickson on breakfast over Clint. But a good match for Sharyn. Interesting that Steph will anchor the drive show.
@Reece In my understanding More FM’s part-networked breakfast slot, The Breakfast Club, would continue to broadcast from its usual home in Christchurch, with the inclusion of live links to Auckland (where new co-host Paul Ego is based).
@radio With the axing of The Hits’ ‘3pm pickup’ slot and Megan Papas moving to daytime in (9am-3pm) in Auckland and various parts of the country, does that mean Brad & Laura (on drive) would be extended by moving to a 3pm start next year?
What show do we think Gary McCormick is taking over next year on Today Fm?
Remember Mitch Harris saying this when Radio Live ended
If he was still the boss, Harris says he would have kept Duncan Garner on the Drive show where “he was great”. The journalist is “too angry” for the morning slot, Harris reckons. “There’s too much table thumping”.
Instead, he would try getting More FM’s Gary McCormick on The AM Show.
I suspect he’ll slot in on a 7pm-8pm show perhaps? It seems like Today isn’t quite sure what it’s doing there. Or maybe he just takes a weekend 9am-12 slot or similar? Would be unconvinced about whether Marc Peard Sports will stay a 6 hour show so they might tweak weekends a bit?
@OnAir I have a question to ask. With Nickson Clark and Steph Monks moving to The Edge’s drivetime slot (3-7pm) next year and replacing Jayden King, who’s going to read the news during breakfast (6-10am)?
It appears that, with Brent Harbour leaving radio after 36 years in the industry, a replacement host for More FM Rodney’s breakfast show will be underway in 2023.
