New Zealand Radio

Thanks for clarifying that. I would say 9-12pm would be entirely voice tracked wouldn’t it?

I’d say voice tracked but does sound live
Dan Murphy does 12- 6 pm shift after that it’s the Otago Radio Association presenters

Sarah Gandy has one of the best voices in NZ radio. It great she’s back on air

I heard a bit of ZM’s drive show this afternoon. It’s was good to hear two songs in Te Reo on air.

Pepeha by Six60 and 35 by Rob Ruha. I know they’ve increasingly been using Te Reo on air and during the news, but it’s good to hear that playing Te Reo waiata extends outside of Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori.

Good thing about both songs is that they’re good even without being able to understand the language

This is a cool find. The More FM News package from 2006.

Note: Station corporate voice in this clip is Daniel Wrightson, who is now the corporate voice for Newstalk ZB and the Sky Sports NZ brand.

This sounds way cooler than what we have now. I like the Eurodance-type beats to it.

The current More FM News package has been on air since 2014 and is in need of a refresh.

Feels like they have used it forever so yes to a refresh. I think the whole stations imaging could do with a refresh, the same voices since maybe even before then. But they rate well with all of this in place, so unlikely to change in the next few years.

Re Duncan Garner for Magic Talk:
Breakfast (might be a hard sell tho after leaving AM due to brutal hours)
Mornings joining Leah Panapa. I like Leah but she definitely needs a co-host. Mark Richardson surely an option too.
Drive, with Lloyd Burr moving to Breakfast

Unlikely, but SENZ would be perfect. In the past, Radio Sport had broadcast the “Crowd Goes Wild Breakfast” with Andrew Mulligan and Mark Richardson at the helm.

I don’t think Lloyd Burr would move to breakfast on Magic Talk (from drive). Lloyd had just returned from London recently and taken over from Ryan Bridge in the drivetime slot, with Ryan now on breakfast.

With Amanda Gillies and Mark Richardson announced their recent resignations and leaving at the end of the year, I personally think Bernadine Oliver-Kerby and Goran Paladin (both from Sky Sport) would join Ryan on the breakfast. ‘Bernie’ would read the news and Goran, who used to work at Radio Sport and had hosted the reality television series “Our First Home”, would read sport.

Interestingly since Dallas Gurney joined Mediaworks, Rachel Smalley (former ZB Early Edition host) has become Magic Talk’s go-to business correspondent. She is on Lloyd Burr’s show every afternoon.

ZM launching a new Saturday breakfast show from tomorrow morning. Great move to provide some new programming and talent development.

Very interesting. Isn’t she still at a government agency?

I’m not too sure but perhaps not? She has regular columns on NBR and now hosts the Business Day segment on Magic Talk after 6pm, which also happens to be the same time as ZB’s Business Hour.

Looks like the A b or c? Podcast finally made it to the air waves

@nztv Just went to the NBR website recently and I am informed that Duncan Garner, who left The AM Show recently, has joined the NBR team as a weekly columnist. He’ll mainly share his opinion on politics as well as business and wider issues affecting our society.

According to her Linkedin she finished up with KiwiBuild Aug 2019…

Now a trustee at Auckland Foundation and director of strategic communications agency ‘Smalley Hofler’

2 articles on Leah Panapa this morning -The Spinoff & Stuff

“To be honest, I’ve always wanted that show,” [Mornings]

“No disrespect to Danny, but talkback can be quite difficult with two hosts.”

I can’t see Mornings being unchanged come the start of next year :grimacing:

I’m picking Chris Parker as the new Edge Breakfast co-host with Meg and Randell. (edited)
