The first leaders debate in the 2023 general election is tonight at 7:00PM on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+ and is expected to last 2 hours. It will be moderated by Jessica Mutch McKay with post-reaction afterwards.
Viewers can also watch NZ-deaf sign language coverage over on the Channel 200 popup channel (Freeview) or on the Channel 200 website.
Coverage of the first leaders’ debate will be streamed on all 1News social channels and online at 1News.co.nz.

Why do they use the Beehive as imagery, when the parliament sits in Parliament House?
To many people, the Beehive is the symbol of Parliament. Plus, it shows better visually.
Better than TVNZ’s graphics, this looks decent. Especially with the Beehive visuals.
