In the overall grand scheme of things, it really shouldn’t matter whether the network presents itself as “Ten” or “10” for obvious reasons but if the numerical 10 that has floated around since 2014 becomes the new logo, this will probably be my reaction…
They can’t even find enough content for the main channel, let alone a 4th…unless it was my dream channel International Reality versions fast tracked real time as they are broadcast overseas… a point of difference
TAR Asia, Big Brother UK and all other countries with sub titles!, Survivor South Africa, Canada Bake Off, I am a Celebrity UK, Dancing with the stars USA, Strictly Come Dancing UK, UK & US X factor, US & UK The Voice, The Apprentice UK…the list goes on… i know some of these are on Foxtel and Youtube, but maybe they could do a deal and get them??
There is obviously a large catalogue of some of these titles and could successfully (IMHO) fill many hours and boost the overall Ten share without really eating in to Ones audience…maybe a little of Elevens, but it is still a point of difference which is what we need…not more of the same
I wonder if Ten could get their hands on Come Dine with Me and air it 6pm weeknights. Would be something completely different and suit those about to eat dinner.
Watching videos of BBC Two’s recent re-branding got me thinking… Perhaps Ten could do idents of their new “10” numerical network logo in different variations to get people familiar with their new image, come the day the Network relaunches?
It makes the logo dynamic rather than static, especially in this day and age where the logo’s personality is often shown through its animations, rather than the style itself.
Or maybe Ten could get some content that people want to watch?
This obsession with branding and image is perplexing. Sure it’s important but in this remote control, on demand, multi-channel, multi-platform world you’ve got to have good content.
I agree on that too definitely, just a fresh face isn’t going to help, but as we’ve heard, Ten is planning to relaunch itself in order to grab peoples attention first to coincide with programming changes.
If Ten is indeed changing to “10” to be more in-line with Seven and Nine, I wonder how they plan to promote their new image, but new programming is sorely needed if they want to gain more viewers.
I also feel Ten needs to rebuild its sporting portfolio. Two opportunities were lost when Seven confirmed it would televise AFLW next year and the Sydney to Hobart yacht race on Boxing Day this year. Given Seven’s cricket commitments, I feel both events could have gone to another network.
I feel we may see a preview of their plans for the Melbourne Cup next year and other Sports they televise during the Upfronts on October 31st. Hoping they will be trying to innovate with their coverage, FOX Sports often does a good job of trying new things with some becoming the standard for other Network broadcasts, hoping it’s the case with the new Ten.
"CBS and Ten were clear that they were engaged in an evolution, and not a revolution, and there was a recognition that there is a lot of work still to do, but they are playing the long game.
"Together with our parent company CBS, we are working to create a strong alternative for audiences locally and we can’t wait to share all the details along with some other big announcements at our upcoming Upfronts presentation.”
I’m hoping that CBS’s in-house team has an heavy influence on their new branding direction and On-Air Presentation for Ten, the Network needs something fresh and different to what we see on Aussie TV currently. Hell, the early 2000s idents on Studio 10 were a breath of fresh air!
Either that or they outsource it to another agency to pave the way for something different. The mention of “premium content” is an interesting one, wonder what they have planned in store…
