According to Takaya Honda, the Executive Producer and Script writers have written/produced 30-40 flashback episodes in the event of a total lockdown. Each episode will have about 3-4 minutes of new footage with the rest being the “flashback”. While 30-40 episodes may seem a lot, the lack of new content to be shot means filming may take 1-2 days.
I can see this working, most likely they’ll write some form of catch-up event into the existing storyline where the whole street is in attendance and are reminiscing on previous years, with each episode about a previous storyline.
Neighbours has about 3 months worth of episodes, so if these flashback episodes were to air, they won’t be airing until the start of July.
April Rose Pengilly said on Instagram Stories that Channel 5 jumped the gun by showing Neighbours just two nights each week, when 10 Peach is still showing the soap on five nights each week.
But her co-star Colette Mann said Channel 5 did the right thing.
There will be no kissing or holding hands, the cast and crew will be isolated into three distinct groups, and camera trickery will be used to make physically-distanced actors look more intimate.
