yassssssss
To be fair im also back watching most episodes now.
I usually watch the Christmas episode on binge (rely on twitter to show the best scenes throughout the year to kind of follow the show), however this year i got sucked back in and have been watching it again. The writing and one liners have been hilarious. I do fast forward here and there. Some episodes i watch in 5 mins and others the whole episode.
However my point to this is, if Eastenders did those credits last year, i wouldnt know whos who, but I actually recognise all those characters and to see them “Neighbourly” is bizarre.
Just on the discussion of titles and themes. I’ve recently come across a tool and I may be able to post something a little cool soon….
Neighbours had responded by doing the intro in EastEnders style.
Nice callback to the opening titles used back in the eighties.
Are they just using the title cards OR are they playing Cricket in the street and breaking a window (of I assume Mrs Mangels house)
Could have made the street map a bit more accurate though. When they’ve filmed outdoors, there’s another cul-de-sac at the end of Ramsay Street on the opposite side of the main road. In the show itself, theyve said this was the rest of Ramsay Street with house numbers with the lower digits.
They’re just using the title card.
Erinborough map EastEnders style
Actual map of same area (Forest Hill)
Erinsborough Primary School = Forest Hill College
Erinsborough High School = Emmaus College
Erinsborough Industrial Estate = Nunawading Studios
Ramsay Street (Laing Court) is located near the top of the EastEnders style map, one block left of Box Avenue.
Didn’t the original Neighbours background map that was from UBD was also edited?
I’m sure that made it appear to have Erinsborough and a few other fake suburb names too from a real map.
I believe they had to get permission to use a UBD style map in the credits. UBD might have even created it for them.
It was a lovely send off for Harold/Ian, especially all the flashbacks with Madge. Made me a bit teary! It’s a shame they didn’t get time to explore more of the Harold/Agnes storyline but I hope she stays on the show a bit longer so she can wrap up the storyline. I understand why Max was there because he’s a Ramsay, but what was Harold’s link with Aaron?
Probably because he’s a Ramsay Street long-termer. He’s Paul’s son-in-law and has a child with Jane’s daughter, so close enough.
The most frustrating thing about Neighbours farewells is how they don’t plan them in advance. Harold says he’s going back to Queensland and then he leaves the next day. Surely they could have done it so it was “three days later” or something close to believable.
I found it a bit underwhelming personally. For instance, Harold and JJ were extremely close, but there was no goodbye scene between them, and there was also no scene of him actually leaving the street.
Well, considering he wasn’t living on the street but the retirement village, he wouldn’t technically be “leaving the street” when he left Erinsborough.
Think about the theme song “Thats when good neighbours, become good friends”
Nell is so annoying
