Neighbours

This is really good for the industry but the way the finale wrapped everything up nice and neatly I’m not sure where they could go with a revival series.

Are we sure this will be on 10s main channel and not 10 Peach? The Instagram post had Peach tagged in. I really hope it’ll be the main channel where it should have been all along.

Maybe 10 haven’t decided yet, the first airdate is more than 6 months away so no need to lock themselves into a schedule.

If the finale can have everyone seeking their houses in a couple of days and then decide not too, 12 months between episodes is pretty easy for the show to go, oh well actually this one did sell etc…

I’m finding it slightly amusing as to why Paramount (especially for channel 5 and 10) couldn’t make this work 6 months ago? Now one of its major competitors has step in and taken it.

I just hope the remake doesn’t tarnish the show. They need to commit to it for a while and not just do a short stint then have it disappear into oblivion again. It ended for a reason so in many ways I think just let it be ending on a high note. Back to the Rafters is an example that didn’t need to happen.

For all we know it could be a weekly 60 min series. I’d wait off alreadying killing it off, it’s great news for the industry in Melbourne.

It could be interesting if they made it into a Desperate Housewives style series where it had an equal mix of drama and comedy but still a soapie.

They could possibly do it without needing all the cast members to return for the series. Have ten core characters and the rest could be recurring or guest characters. Desperate Housewives did that well.

“It’s Alan, Jackie, Stefan and myself who are locked into to start on it. I don’t know who’s going to come back,” says Moloney.

This is nothing for Amazon - they’re a trillion dollar company.

I can see this being a limited episode series with a major story arc that ties it all together. They’ll test it out and then decide if it’s worth investing in more. I just can’t see it being produced on the same scale as it has been in the past. Are there examples of soap operas in other parts of the world that work on a streaming service? The jury would still be out on DOOL.

Ryan just said on Studio 10 that the producers are yet to contact the owners of the Pin Oak Court houses because they were keeping everything under wraps until they went public last night.

I feel like they should have finalized everything before the announcement cause now the location prices will go up and the other cast members might not be happy causing a rift in their so called “family”

They dont really use the street much these days anyway - compared to the good old days. And the 2 or 3 houses that are owned by fans, they can used their front yards “more frequent” and the others in passing, since they use the backlots alot.

Focus on just some families, and the rest as regular guests (like Clive, Vera, the random teacher etc, and their families).

I hope they finally build their own Ramsey street, now that would be a big gamble but still it makes sense to have it

To be honest the people of pin oak court should outright deny them to use the street . For 37 years that’s remarkable to have access to the street out for it but they should be allowed to have normal lives without interruption. Whatever day they used to film outside scenes.

Nonetheless I’m excited about the revival as it brings more jobs back to the industry and up and coming young actors can use neighbours as a good platform to get a leg up in their careers. Of course home and away is also a good option too for them.

It will be Interesting to see how this revival goes and who they get back. We know Ryan , Jackie and Alan are , hopefully Stefan would be interested too.

The other issue to is the Jane / mike happy ending they got and supposedly living in thr street , I think Jane should stay written out so she gets her happy ending . If Annie Jones is interested in coming back I wonder if they’ll kill Mike off :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yes I agree

Does everyone have to be negative about everything? If they put up with it for 37 years, I’m sure the owners of the houses will be happy to receive the money again. Apparently they were only filming in the street for a couple of days every fortnight anyway, so it’s not a huge inconvenience.

Most of the other filming outdoors was happening at the studio backlot where they have the Lassiters complex and backyard sets plus a lot of “on location” shooting.
