Neighbours

Can’t believe that tomorrow night, we will be watching the last ever episode of Neighbours :frowning:

Great to hear the mention of Bouncer being the name of Shane’s car in tonight’s episode. And how steamy of Izzy and Shane. Of course they were going to be spotted.

It will be a very sad day tomorrrow. After more than 30 years, the curtain comes down for Neighbours.

Watching for the first time in over 12 years this week ajd it really is a shame this Australian production has been shut down. 10 and P+ really should’ve come to the party to save it. It’s an end of a really landmark Australian program. 10 have now we’ll and truly destroyed any legacy they have on Australian TV.

You don’t realise the comfort of something until it’s gone.

Neighbours has always been a show that felt like it just existed and was always there. You could tune out, tune in a decade later, and it was still there. The street, houses, Paul, Toadie, Karl & Susan - all still there.

I was never a superfan, but I would watch from time to time to escape reality for just half an hour. Making fun of how far-fetched some of the storylines were was something me and my mum bonded over.

Tomorrow is going to be a really sad day for many

More in the hands of the Producers, but surely tomorrow’s closer uses the instrumental version of Barry Crocker’s theme usually reserved for the death of a major character. Would be a fitting way to finish the series.

They haven’t even played opening credits at all this week. That’s poor form,

yeah, i noticed that with the opening credits. I wonder why they didn’t play it over the last three nights. It seemed off.

I better hope that there will be a opener tomorrow night - even if its done differently to celebrate the final.

There’s been no opener this week because the show has moved on to celebrating current and former cast members so I think by having no credits it’s showcasing the entire cast together.

Should have celebrated the current cast like the last few weeks though, with a special tomorrow night. Apart from Mal, Izzy and Shane, the other former cast were on the show in a blink and you’ll miss moment.

Really is ridiculous. I think they’ve handle the last few weeks quite badly myself - too many returnees and cameos, rushing a “conclusion” of sorts with just a couple of eps to go and sidelining much of the current cast. Arguably this is where Jason being such a fan of the show is a curse rather than a blessing - really just Mal & Izzy to put the Kennedy’s centre stage than a (kept as a surprise) cameo from Scott & Charlene in the finale would have ticked enough boxes.

That said the scene with the Kennedy’s seeing all the other houses up for sale worked really well as the end of the episode yesterday here in the UK. Not sure it would have been quite as effective in the middle of a triple bill.

Harold, Paige and Yashvi have made quite an impact for me this week too.

oh yes, them too. Oopsy me. i now see your point. Sorry.

Yeah, see what I mean now. The returnees are in it just as much as the contracted cast which explains the lack of opening credits.

Lots of coverage of the final on Brisbane radio this morning including network ‘rivals’ ABC (ring and tell us your stories of neighbours) and Nine stations.

4BH are including reports for Ramsay St in their traffic reports (Ramsay St, Kedron)

3AW was asking listeners to call in with their connection to Neighbours. Most were connected to Stefan Dennis, his former landscape gardner and dental nurse amongst them.

With all this free publicity and interest, Ten’s ratings for tomorrow will be interesting.

Shoutout to David Knox aka TV Tonight, celebrating a tribute to Australia’s longest running drama on their homepage today.

I’m expecting high ratings for the final. However, because it is simulcast on 10 Peach, that will reduce the network share for the night.

I’ve spoken with a lot of people who are tuning in tonight for the finale, so yes, tipping very good figures tomorrow.

Mind you, I’ve always watched the encore screening over the weekend and it appears it’s already been dumped from the schedule. Surely they could’ve kept it for one final weekend.

News Breakfast also paid tribute to the show this morning… also highlighting that the final will be televised on the big screen at Federation Square.

If you want your viewership to count and don’t have an OzTam box, if you watch live on TV tonight you can also live stream on another device in the background or later and help give them a realistic view of eyeballs watching.
