It would look odd given they’d be done in daylight hours and it’d be dark by 5.30pm?
Maybe they’ll use recorded footage from a previous night?

Northern Rivers with same backdrop.
Which was what was done when they recorded the local windows at 6pm, right?
True, but was only for the windows, not the whole bulletin.
I guess it’s easier to keep the graphics and look the same while it is being controlled from Brisbane
They should’ve replicated 7 Regional by having the primary market (Newcastle) output a live bulletin and kept the other regions pre-recorded.
That would’ve required them to have kept the same number of staff in each newsroom
Probably just cheaper to record them all given its only in the 5.30pm slot. I’m starting to get the feeling it might be a single bulletin for all markets given what we’ve seen so far today.
Also still odd that there hasn’t been a single 9 News promo or update yet all afternoon (from 12pm to 5.15pm at least). Maybe that’ll change over time as viewers get used to the new NBN News timeslot.
Darwin did a 1 hour live bulletin with 4 journalists rotating weather and 1 presenter…
There would have been other staff on hand to produce and assist in case a technical issue comes up with the live bulletin as well. That’s another saving with pre-recording, everyone goes home earlier.
Well let’s hope Nine and WIN start collaborating more when it comes to news to make this “90-minute bulletin of local, national and international news” work out. If news breaks after the pre-recording deadline are we not gonna hear about it until the next night?
This was the most egregious part of the affiliation agreements used on Prime, SCA and WIN. If you have local content on, you shouldn’t have to give over the ad revenue for that slot.
They could just use the same recorded loop from the same time for the backdrop.
Surely putting “with Natasha Beyersdorf” underneath the NBN News logo would’ve looked better?
“Natasha Beyersdorf: NBN News” looks like an afterthought

Northern Rivers bulletin has some different stories to Newcastle (or at least a different order).
Weather difference
Correct, as no matter how often or how much a regional broke away from the metro network for local content, the affiliation contract still required payment of the percentage of ad revenue 24/7. So is it any wonder regional television was doomed from the start of aggregation and localism died off very quickly, and what is left is more tokenism now to satisfy in many areas local content regulations, nothing more, sadly.
