NBN News

Karl crossing to “NBN Presenter” Jane Goldsmith.

Would’ve better to refer the actual brand which is “NBN News” presenter.

Maybe she reports for the National Broadband Network too?!

Looks weird. Reporter would be more accurate - considering she is reporting

NBN also running the Your News promo

Needs a “Your LOCAL News” promo to join it. Lovely promo.

They probably can’t use that phrase as I’m guessing it’s a generic promo screened in all regions as they don’t have any local news for the Gold Coast (which just gets the Lismore window now).

Have they also stopped local Gold Coast ads as well on there altogether? I’m talking about the Gold Coast version of NBN, not the Northern Rivers one which also carries some Gold Coast ads. Are they simply taking a dirty feed of NBN Northern Rivers, e.g: NBN Lismore showing up on the Gold Coast TV channel list now?

Last time i was up there, i think they still ran local ads.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Nine (NBN)

Something different tonight.

With the Knights having a home game tonight, all sport news including the local windows, were presented from Hunter Stadium.

I did chuckle at how much quieter the backdrpp looked during the pre-recorded Central Coast sport, also a “Live” super appeared incorrectly aa below.

Previously, only the NRL news would be presented from the stadium, with the rest of the sport including local windows presented by someone else from the studio.

They also used loop music at the end of the local sport window which suggests they weren’t able to time them more accurately with it being done off site. Thankfully the music only lasted a few seconds, and not 30 seconds or more like sometimes back in the old Mosbri Crescent days.

They also aired a “fluff” piece at the end of weather, something i haven’t seen for a long time. Possibly had time to fill with the way sport was done? Also the bulletin was closed very quickly, just “That’s the news, good night” and no music before ACA started.

Looks like there was a technical issue during the first opt out window so they switched back to live.

Have a look at the background change on the right hand side as it switches.

Those kinds of changes are even more stark for the pre-recorded local news windows.

I’ve seen it go from night to daylight and then night again.

Guess that gives it away the local weather opt-outs for Newcastle aren’t live. Are the local news opt-outs on NBN News Newcastle also pre-recorded? Are the national headlines the only ones live? Cheers.

I thought everything that wasn’t national or Newcastle was pre-recorded.

Same here, except Newcastle weather now looks to be pre-recorded, local news and sport still look to be live reads (I think).

Well, when you move your weather presenter to the news desk, you have no choice.

Either get a 4th person in to do weather and stop Gav from doing the weather, move Gav back to weather and get someone else to by Tash’s offsider, or get the sports presenter to do weather.

This nickel and dime shit does not do well.

Exactly. And he doesn’t wear a cape.

That’s why they sacked Paul, to save on presenter costs.

I’d much rather have a newsreader also present the weather than how they do it now, I’m not a fan of having a weatherman read the news.. Gavin is not a trained journalist (to my knowledge), I’ve never seen him report on any kind of news anywhere ?? It would make the whole product look somewhat more credible going the other way.

Having said that, I prefer Gavin’s presenting style to Paul’s … he just looked too cheerful to me and didn’t really deliver the news with the authority that one hopes for, despite his reporting pedigree.

Which would defeat the purpose of having Gav there as a trained meteorologist.

Which would defeat the purpose of removing Paul Lobb in the first place, which was to save on costs.

As much as someone like Adam Murray does fine presenting sport, he would be a very average weather presenter.

I’m not a fan of either. The Yanks have it right - most of their weather presenters have to have some sort of formal accreditation.

I’d rather they save more money on presenters and tell Gav to fuck off. Tash can go solo, and have Garry Youngberry do it from Brisbane since NBN is now a subsidiary of QTQ (pretty much) and controlled from there. At least Garry had more of a clue.

Gav’s presenting style isn’t that much better than Paul’s. Again, they did this to cut costs. I’m sure they can find other sources to cut costs and raise funds - like maybe pissing off Nine Radio and the SMH and sticking to their lane?
