Was there a weather presenter last night?
It was a busy night for Gavin⌠He did the news solo and did the weather forecast standing upâŚ. Adam Murray presented sport.
Looks like the weather was pre-recorded for all markets, as he was seated again for the âfluffâ piece.
âBack to you Gavinâ
âThanks Gavinâ
Would it be good for Nine NBNâs news director to spend cash on giving any reporter a chance to present the weather on weeknights, if heâs insistent to place Gavin to the presenter desk? They managed to save cash by sacking Lobby and used it for a separate weekend weather presenter, if thatâs making sense.
The weekend weather presenter (just a reporter) wouldnât compare to Lobbâs salary. That money has likely been a saving they having re-spent.
Some interesting structure with tonightâs bulletin.
Regular sports presenter Michell Hughes did a cross from the newsroom regarding Kalyn Ponga resigning with the Knights, which was their lead story. He later appeared on set for the sports segment.
And something I thought Iâd never see, the weatherman crossing to the weather presenter. Lauren Kempe presenting weather tonight.
Natasha was in Tamworth and did a cross from the Golden Guitar Awards. She was not seen at all last night, She also filed a report. Sheâs also not back in the newsroom until next Monday. Iâm guessing sheâs a country music fan and is otherwise on holidays.
Tyson Cottrill announced during tonightâs bulletin that the the ANZAC service âfrom Nobbys Beachâ would be âon NBNâ tomorrow morning.
Seems Tyson has forgotten that itâs not called âNBNâ anymore, and I suspect viewers outside of the Newcastle region wouldnât know where Nobbys is.
I know this is not a new thing, but it still feels a bit odd seeing a Sydney weather forecast on NBN Newsâs Central Coast weather segment. I know there is a large commuter presence there however.
It made me wonder, does NBN Newsâs Gold Coast weather forecast have a similar Brisbane forecast / graphic?
Yes NBN does include Brisbane 7 day outlook on its Gold Coast bulletin.
That reminds me of the old local backdrops WIN used back in 2006 âŚ
Still there, can that be seen across the network? Or is it a green screen with local images inserted for each market?
You mean, QTQ did the chroma thing they used in Nine News Regional back then?
Oh my god. FINALLY!
Well Iâm in the New England/North West broadcast area, if that helps.
Not exactly a good way to dilute the Newcastle centric flavour the bulletin has up north.
Iâm sure itâs not intentional however, will be interesting to see if local backdrops will appear or refer back to the blue swirls tomorrow tonight.
Donât mind having plain backdrops without all the swirls and shit, but the lighting in the studio is shocking.
The lighting and set in general just sucks so much. But yes I agree, thatâs a much better backdrop.
