All that means is that the presenters have to move around the desk a bit during the bulletin depending on the type of shot being used. Brisbane and Adelaide managed full double headers with a single backdrop plasma for a decade, it’s really not difficult.
No it’s not (as I feel has been discussed several times throughout this thread). The most obvious of the numerous visual differences is the thickness of the white light ring where it sticks out across the front of the desk.
It’s hard to tell because those two caps are from different angles of the desk. The NBN shot looks downward at the desk whereas the Willoughby cap is much more level.
I do however think it is the old Willoughby desk though.
I was honestly surprised they ditched this set for the old Nine set at the time. That still looks quite classy and would’ve worked well today if they did some of the changes that you described.
So… they ger rid of Paul Lobb to save on presenter costs and now they have a separate weather presenter for weekends (but still on not weeknights)? They do some odd things at Nine Newcastle.
I was assuming it was a new arrangement, it would seem strange to just do it for one night, but there may have a one off reason like what @David posted above…
