Former Nine Adelaide reporter Olivia Grace-Curran is the new CoS/News Editor for NBN News.
Still at Mosbri Crescent tonight I see⌠So we are now getting towards the end of September - what was originally meant to be a July move, pushed back to September is starting to now not look like happening this month either.
As per the appointment of Darius Winterfield as director, itâll be rather interesting to see what (if any) changes Olivia makes to NBN News as their new CoS/Editor in the coming months.
Youâd think NBN are now waiting for the lockdown to end in Newcastle before moving to Honeysuckle?
From what I understand, all departments are in Honeysuckle already. Itâs just news that is still in the old building. So I donât know what effect lockdown would have in that regard.
Lots of live reports and breaking news - itâs a much faster paced bulletin now that is up to date and not just package after package after package.
So much retrospective stuff. When was the last time TCN or GTV had similar?
Or is it perhaps NBN saying goodbye to the old brand?
They claim itâs a lead-up to the 60th birthday in March.
They are not going to replace the NBN News brand with the 9 news brand anytime soon. Not for a long time yet
Weâll just have to wait and see what happens in the long run, but I personally reckon that the chances of a full-on NBN > Nine News rebrand have increased with their recent management changes.
Letâs be realistic here: People such as Blake Doyle, Andy Lobb & Kerryn Scully who were at NBN for many years (if not decades) mightâve been strong enough to push hard against any network influence.
On the other hand, both Darius Winterfield & Olivia Grace-Curran have previously worked in Nine-branded newsrooms. Theyâre probably much more loyal to the Nine News brand than NBNâs, so in the long run youâd think Darius & Olivia are just as likely to follow any major decisions that affect Nine News (general branding, online/social media presence, etc.) as their TCN, GTV & QTQ counterparts would be.
A live cross to NBN Newsâs Jane Goldsmith in the Sydney 6pm bulletin tonight.
The cross and associated footage was all in rather ordinary looking standard definition.
Which suggests that the only HD elements weâll see at Honeysuckle are in the studio plus network packaged reports,
âŚor maybe the live cross equipment will be upgraded at a later date. Took until around mid-2016 for Nine News Sydney to do live crosses in native HD, even though other elements of the bulletin were upgraded a fair while earlier!
Wrong.
Jane is off this week - in isolation after a covid run-in.
She has a special report tonight with an exclusive chat to the families of two teenagers who went missing about 20 years ago. Itâs the first time the families have spoken.
It would be good to see Gavin do a tour of Northern NSW for a week and do weather on location from a different town each night (COVID permitting), so itâs not always in Newcastle.
Probably from being at John Hunter last week?
It wouldnât surprise me if next Monday is the move to the new studios.
This weekendâs Rewind segment looks back at the start of âcolour TV on 3â which to me suggests itâs going to be a good time to move to the next stage of NBN News.
Can you confirm @Bigdog ?
November Iâve heard.
My sources also saying NBN will be controlled from Brisbane in a âregional hubâ setup with Darwin - both will continue to receive dedicated bulletins in their current formats. Not going to confirm anything though.
Merging the two operations will potentially allow Darwin to have a weekend news service as the resources are already there for NBN.
How would that work? Isnât there always going to be a timezone overlap?
