So looks like weather is now relegated to the newsreaders reading them out instead of being presented by Gavin separately.
That weather graphic is new, haven’t seen one with both temps and rainfall forecasts in it before,
On the subject of Gavin presenting, his delivery is fine, but the weather preview felt odd with Gavin just reading it from the desk with no intro / cross like there used to be,
Natasha also read all items in the Central Coast window too, Gavin was not seen at all then.
Thanks for the caps too, @Abesty
Central Coast weather combined with Newcastle again
It looks like the entire last block is now recorded for each market as there is no “pause” anywhere to allow recorded local weather segments to rejoin the live (Newcastle) read.
Yeah they’ve used that for a couple of months now.
I’ve noticed in the “New NBN” some of the new journalists like Claudia Vrdoljak do not give off “regional reporter just out of uni” vibes, she is metro quality in terms of confidence, how she speaks and relaxed she looks.
It’s a very unfair statement to make considering ex NBN reporters are incredibly nice & hard working people… but NBN appears to be sharpening up their image.
Eg in this video - she would be perfect for the Sydney metro bulletin as she would on NBN. There are a few minor pauses but will get better over time.
Claudia has previously worked for Prime7 and was the reporter for Nine News Local in the Central West of NSW. So she has had a few years under her belt.
If you listen carefully to the video above since Gavin started, you can actually hear the end of the package from Gavin’s earpiece.
It’s almost like they have reduced the delay down to 1/5 of a second…
When they cross to the control room, you can see someone in the background in front of the monitors. I wonder if they moved the pilot & switching to Newcastle?
You can’t hear Tash’s earpiece, but you can hear Gavins… he might have his cranked up
Are they not going to do something with all that awful black dead paneling?
How can they think this is ok to go to Air. Ugh
Last sentence sounds intriguing.
They’ve fixed the awkward pauses/delay when a live reporter crosses back to the studio… delay is almost 0
Live Cross to Charles Croucher in China tonight…
It’s not very often they do a Live Cross to someone overseas.
They did one to Damian Ryan (in China) last night.
Also last night, they counted Tash in slightly too early one time. The first word was almost cut off.
Andrew Fifita is a man of many talents, being mistaken for two greats of game seems to be another. These supers were supposed on be on the following NRL report, this report didn’t have any supers at all. Aside from this, the bulletin went pretty smoothly again tonight, most of the issues that plagued the Honeysuckle set up early on seem to be fixed.
