NBC News

Additionally, the network’s primetime lineup draws twice as many Independents and Republicans as CNN’s, according to Nielsen/MRI fusion data.

Considering the normal slant across MS NOW’s programming, I don’t understand why they would spin this as a good thing.

Yes, it’s more balanced audience, but they are probably hate-watching and clip-chopping in the current climate.

Versant are clearly aiming for MS NOW to evoke a Talk UK–style vibe based on that key art. The sliding, semi-transparent blue logo elements on the proposed title cards strongly resemble the speech-bubble-centric branding that News UK introduced for TalkTV and Talk.

Found Steve Kornacki on NBC News Now instead of MSNBC tonight

He announced MSNBC exit long ago, citing the spinoff.

It’s Ali Velshi over there now.

As the countdown to MSNBC’s rebrand as MS NOW looms, the network profited from last night’s election coverage to launch the first promos in the run up to the big day as part of the new brand. The 60-second spots feature the network’s personalities intertwined with both contemporary and archival “vignettes” of everyday Americans and Americana life, with one spot featuring Rachel Maddow reading the preamble to the U.S. Constitution, whilst the second uses archival recordings of Maya Angelou, reading her 1996 poem “The Human Family”.

Videos won’t embed here, so here’s the full press release (with the videos, sourced from NCS):

As part of the new concept of MS NOW, the network plans to continue leveraging an emphasis on its progressive-leaning agenda and commentary, but the network is adding what it calls “the American experience” to its DNA, by reflecting on the “love of country and sense of community” of its main target.

As previously announced, the network would separate from NBC’s news facilities at 30 Rock, with Versant looking for new facilities in New York to house the company and its operations. Eventually, it has found a home in Midtown Manhattan, having set a lease for 164,545 square feet at the former New York Times Building in Times Square, occupying floors 8 to 10 which will serve as its temporary HQ. There’s where MS NOW’s initial studios will be located, where a full newsroom (including a flashcam position inside the office) and production facilities (including two control rooms and a dedicated podcast studio) will be installed.

For the operation, MS NOW has invested in unique technology facilities for the new network, including three studios inside the NYC facility. The largest studio includes a large LED array, which is 240hz capable and has the highest pixel pitch (1.6mm). Additionally, the network has been equipped with a one of a kind XR studio using volume panels.

For its standalone Washington bureau, MS NOW will still share some facilities with NBC News at the one of the buildings (400 North Capitol St in Northwest Washington D.C.) of the Hall of States office complex. Comcast has reportedly rebuilt the 8th floor of the NBC News DC bureau to house separate space for the new MS NOW bureau, in which also CNBC will be based.

It looks like everything will be new come Nov. 15…

Seriously beautiful stuff.

Imagine if Sky put in 1/4 of this effort when they rebrand

They aren’t over the top or really anything too special but just a nicely designed studio with a good clean colour palette.

MSNBC no.1 on election night 2025.

Fox had their own ways to spin, but both can agree that CNN is very far, far behind.

MS Now 's set is beautiful. Puts Australia’s news sets to shame

What stands out is even though the studio is mostly two giant videowalls (with a few screens for stand up segments or to display graphics), it has been designed in a way whereby you can easily identify numerous different presentation options to give shows their own unique identities.

By contrast, similar Australian news studios aren’t versatile at all.

CNN is cooked

Certainly doesn’t help when they’ve scaled down their whole election shindig and have some of the most useless hosts like Jake Tapper fronting it and looking miserable half the time. Gone are the days when Wolf, Anderson and John King were front and centre.

I think Wolf and Anderson will both be gone at the end of their current contracts. That’s probably why they’re pushing Tapper so much, as he’s locked into a long-term, multi-million dollar contract. Kasie Hunt is another one CNN seem to really like. Let’s just say I don’t really see what they see in her.

Well that’s a big shame then. They’re the last bastion of what made CNN…well CNN.

Tapper is just a miserable sook on air everywhere you see him. John King and the magic wall’s the only redeeming thing left on CNN’s election coverage, and maybe Dana Bash. She needs a bigger role IMO.

If I may jump in, we have a dedicated CNN thread. Let’s keep this going there.

And if I may jump in, you’re the one who first brought up CNN. I put my latest reponse in the CNN thread so hopefully, we can all be at peace now.

Those MSNOW sets are seriously sexy. Better than anything CNN (sorry!) or Fox currently have. If only Sky UK looked like that.

It was only brought up in a ratings context that it isn’t as easy to slice-and-dice as the other two channels.

But okay.

I don’t know how CNN is cooked when it won the 25-54 demo that pays it bills and keeps the lights on.
