Going by the info I can find online, Emma Alberici spent eight years at Nine before joining the ABC (where of course, she still is now) in January 2002.
I think the ticker may have only been used during the Iraq War coverage (and possibly other breaking/rolling news content)? Because I certainly don’t remember it being used on standard National Nine News bulletins.
Yes you are right. I don’t ever remember seeing it during the 9/11 coverage either! But I do remember the television being on 9 of many afternoons and would see the scrolling news.

…or because the colour signal on the tape dropped out? From what I remember, you had to have really snowy analogue reception for your colour signal to go B&W.
Wonder if the first segment of the 12/10/2003 Adelaide news was a delayed version of what aired in Sydney? Because the supers look slightly different (no globe, the typeface being Univers instead of Franklin Gothic) on the locally generated pieces compared to those on the Bali memorial segment.
