Array? How many bays is it for a supposed 1 watt service?
Hawk Gold has a similar pattern being below the Ridge line near the pub. Signal rolls off very quickly to the west once you go over the hill just a few hundred meters for the site and no signal at all in the Blue Mountains
Noise FM has the same problem coming down from the heights, gets bumped in the shadow of the hill. Had a listen to it when I was up there the other week.
It was 1 bay and looked like a omnidirectional circular dipole antenna.
Hawkesbury Gold site is at the Grass Karts site. As you are aware It does not have the LOS to the west that Hawkesbury Radio has from Burralow Rd. It cannot serve Bilpin and Mt Tomah to the west that Hawkesbury Radio can from their better site. I believe the other aspirant broadcasts from another site lower down the escarpment.
I did notice the signal getting bumped going down the hill. The 50w directional Hawkesbury Radio suffers too as you are in the shadows.
If any of the other community stations get the licence will they move to Hawkesbury Radioâs site or continue to use their existing site which have poor coverage to the west?
It clashes with Noise fm at Stanhope Gardens too. Anywhere with LOS to Kurrajong Heights I get Noise Fm, with no LOS the frequency is a mess with Noise and The Beat cutting over the top of each other.
87.6 is The Beat Radio Camden so assuming it is coming from Razorback and other smaller sites around the MacArthur. VOI would have finished up in that area.
VOI network in Sydney is mainly CBD / Lakemba now.
ACMA finds Queensland radio station FAB FM in breach of licence
FAB FM holds a licence to provide an âopen narrowcasting serviceâ. Under law, open narrowcasting services must be limited in some way, such as targeting special interest groups, or by providing programmes of limited appeal.
An ACMA investigation found FAB FM was broadcasting some content to a special interest group, being tourists visiting the Port Douglas region, however the proportion of material targeted at this group was low. The majority of content was targeted at a wide audience, being residents of the Douglas Shire.
Of the broadcasts reviewed by the ACMA, less than 10 per cent of automated programming provided tourist information. Of its four live-hosted programs, no more than 17 per cent of time was devoted to tourism information.
ACMA Chair Nerida OâLoughlin said radio broadcasters must ensure they operate within the terms of their licences or licensing arrangements.
âAfter a thorough investigation, we found that FAB FM is not providing open narrowcasting in accordance with its licence,â Ms OâLoughlin said.
âLicensees must comply with their licence conditions at all times. There are serious consequences for not doing so, including criminal proceedings and suspension or cancellation of the licence.â
The ACMA has accepted a court enforceable undertaking made by FAB FM to take actions to comply with its licence conditions and be monitored by the ACMA for the next two years.
If the licensee breaches the enforceable undertaking, the ACMA may seek an order from the Federal Court to direct the licensee to comply or to pay an amount of money or compensation. If the licensee continues to broadcast programming that is not limited as required under the law the ACMA may suspend or cancel their licence.
The ACMA investigated FAB FM following a complaint and found FAB FM was not providing a narrowcasting service within the definition under the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 and breached licence conditions under the Radiocommunications Act 1992 .
1476 was the Penrith translator for 2KA Katoomba, it went when 2KA converted to 96.1 ONE FM, but 1476 was never part of the Sydney LAP, & had nothing to do with the Sydney AM/FM conversions, it was part of the later regional conversions under the Katoomba LAP.
