And watch out for future episodes as My Way continues to scout far and wide to honour outstanding Australians doing outstanding things. But first we are off to the Sunshine Coast, meeting Jenna Sanders, a third-generation baker who revitalised the cherished Kenilworth Bakery into a vibrant community hub. After 15 years of honing her craft, Jenna purchased the historic bakery – and what started with four doughnut sales a day has blossomed into a bustling hotspot, with 5,000 doughnuts flying off the shelves each Saturday.

From there, we hit the breathtaking Glasshouse Mountains, where Lisa and Nick Palu are brewing a fresh chapter in coffee production. Since acquiring the historic Glasshouse Plantation Estate in 2015, this close knit family have planted over 5,000 Arabica coffee trees. They have also transformed the original 1910 farmhouse into a café and roastery, inviting visitors to savour this journey of Australian-grown coffee from cultivation to cup.

On we continue to the Canefields Distillery where Kylie and Luke Farrelly and Dan Cook have transformed their generational canefields into a premier rum and gin operation, mastering every aspect of production from planting to bottling. Viewers will raise a glass to their dedication to craftsmanship and the rejuvenation of the Sunshine Coast cane industry.

Meanwhile at Eastwell Farms, Susie and Bryant Ussher and their son Alex are champions of sustainable agriculture. By blending regenerative cattle farming with innovative mushroom cultivation, this family exemplify a commitment to harmony with nature. Driven to enrich the land and strengthen the community’s connection to the environment, they are setting a powerful example for future generations.

Kicking off in the idyllic beaches of Palm Cove, Julia meets Nick Holloway, the chef behind renowned restaurant, Nu Nu, who shares his passion for blending ingredients from the reef, rainforest and the land to create his award-winning menu. In 2004, Nick left Melbourne’s culinary scene for Cairns to pursue his dream of opening a laidback, beachside restaurant and 20 years later, it is still the cornerstone of Tropical North Queensland’s fine dining scene.

Further north and nestled in the ancient landscape of the Daintree, Julia visits Cape Trib Farm which grows over 80 varieties of curious, tropical fruit, the next one more weird and wonderful than the last. Merran Blockey, her husband Jeremy and son Sam are dedicated to sharing the unique offerings with visitors to the farm that yields a cornucopia of unheard of fruits thriving in this tropical climate.

On the Atherton Tablelands, Julia finds Mark Watkins, the mastermind behind Mt Uncle Distillery. At 16 Mark was brewing ginger beer in his backyard, and since founding the distillery in 2001 he has been crafting award-winning rum, gin and liqueurs infused with local products and botanicals. But he didn’t stop there, also turning his hand towards making agave spirits after a trip to Mexico. Mark grows his agave onsite and even gives Julia a chance at harvesting one of these giant plants, which is not for the faint hearted.

After a dreamy day exploring the romantic Paronella Park, Julia delights in a warm welcome at the Mena Creek Hotel which is over 100 years old. Managers Katherine and Jacinta Stevens, who share deep ties to the town, welcome her with a lesson in pouring the perfect pint. Perched atop a hill, the hotel has long been a community hub, and under their care it is still a place where everyone feels like family.
