MY ROOM GRAND FINAL SPECTACULAR RAISES A RECORD BREAKING $5.246 MILLION FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER
A record breaking total of $5,246,459 has been raised by the My Room Grand Final Spectacular together with other My Room Fundraising initiatives throughout the year for children and families fighting childhood cancer.
On Thursday night on Nine, hosts Eddie McGuire, Alicia Loxley, Clint Stanaway and The Sunday Footy Show team, including Tony Jones, Nathan Brown, Matthew Lloyd, Kane Cornes and Damian Barrett, joined forces for an evening packed with footy and entertainment to raise money for a great cause.
The My Room Grand Final Spectacular and Nine My Room Telethons since 2016 have now raised more than $21 million in donations over the past nine years. This year’s contributions will be directed to supporting family assistance, clinical care and also help to advance groundbreaking research and clinical trials to find a cure for childhood cancer, as well as improve the treatment outcomes for affected children.
The Sunday Footy Show team had the final word ahead of the AFL Grand Final and they met the brave children and families who receive support from My Room.
Special guests and My Room ambassadors showed their support on the night, including Blues captain and dual Brownlow Medallist Patrick Cripps, Collingwood young gun Nick Daicos, Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli and his team mate Cody Weightman, Essendon star Andrew McGrath and Hawthorn gun Will Day.
Some of My Room’s other ambassadors, including Michelle Payne, Lauren Phillips, Brody Mihocek and Nic Newman chipped in to take donations in the phone room and lend their support.
Viewers were treated to live performances from stars Cody Simpson and Emmanuel Kelly.
And Billy Brownless also made an appearance, joining punters in Crown Melbourne’s hottest spots.
Maurizio Marcocci, Chairman, and Margaret Zita OAM, CEO of My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, thanked everyone for their support in a joint statement.
They said: “Established more than three decades ago by families touched by childhood cancer, My Room Children’s Cancer Charity has transformed into an essential support system that provides funding for crucial clinical care and supports research aimed at enhancing treatment outcomes.
This year’s Grand Final Spectacular together with other My Room fundraising initiatives throughout the year achieved a remarkable total of $5,246,459, thanks to the unwavering commitment of our partners, volunteers and the generous contributions from the public, offering hope to children facing cancer. We are dedicated to channelling these resources to the areas that need them most, ensuring every child has access to optimal care and support during their journey."

Hosted by Eddie McGuire, joined by 9News Melbourne anchor Alicia Loxley, the Telethon raises money critical for kids fighting cancer and the My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.
This year’s Telethon features a live performance by one of Australia’s most popular singers, Vanessa Amorosi, and a guest appearance from children’s favourite, Emma Memma.
They will be joined by a star-studded lineup that includes some of the biggest names in the AFL, including players and My Room ambassadors Marcus Bontempelli, Patrick Cripps and Will Day.
This year, Australian Formula 1 star Oscar Piastri has also joined the My Room family as an ambassador and he’ll be sharing a special message during the show.

Footy Classified – Tuesday’s panel of Eddie McGuire, James Hird, Tom Morris and Rory Sloane has also enjoyed substantial Total TV audience growth, up by 39.6% compared to the Wednesday program last year.

At the final siren, the total funds raised at last night’s Footy Show Grand Final: My Room Telethon together with other My Room fundraising initiatives throughout the year, raised a record-breaking total of $6,075,542.68 for children and families fighting childhood cancer.
On Thursday night on Nine, host Eddie McGuire, joined by Alicia Loxley and members of the Sunday Footy Show team, including Nathan Brown, Matthew Lloyd and Rory Sloane, combined for an evening packed with footy and entertainment to raise money for a great cause.
The My Room Telethon on Nine has now raised more than $25 million in donations over the past 10 years. Funds raised through this year’s Telethon will help ensure children with cancer and their families receive the care, comfort and support they need — from financial assistance to specialised clinical care. They’ll also drive pioneering research and clinical trials aimed at finding a cure and giving every child the best possible chance at a brighter future.
Special guests and My Room ambassadors dropped in throughout the night, including Brisbane Lions captain Harris Andrews ahead of the Grand Final, Geelong star Ollie Dempsey, Carlton captain and dual Brownlow Medallist Patrick Cripps, Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempell, and Hawthorn gun Will Day.
Plus, Western Bulldog Cody Weightman, Essendon’s Andrew McGrath, Hawthorn’s Massimo D’Ambrosio, Gold Coast’s Ben King, St Kilda’s Max King, and former Socceroo Archie Thompson showed their support from the Probe Phone Room.
Viewers were treated to a live performance by Vanessa Amarosi and a special appearance from Emma Memma at the Monash Children’s Hospital, while Felix Von Hofe was holding the fort at Bridie O’Reilly’s, chatting with former Norm Smith Medallist Stevie Johnson and three-time Premiership player for the Brisbane Lions, Jason Akermanis.
Although Australian Formula 1 driver Oscar Piastri couldn’t make it due to racing commitments, his mother Nicole joined the show to auction off one of his signed helmets.
