My Kitchen Rules

Why was I not surprised when I flicked over towards the end of this last night (waiting for First Dates to start) that the villain of this round appears to be another young brunette girl? Third round in a row… hmmm…[/quote]
Isn’t the villain on I’m A Celb a brunette too? :stuck_out_tongue: What’s your point exactly? Ash from last year’s MKR was blonde. :stuck_out_tongue:

Now this is interesting. Season 5 runners-up Chloe and Kelly were today sacked by The Sunday Times of Perth as restaurant critics, after negatively reviewing a local deli even though Kelly ate there with her fiance instead of Chloe (and the bill was unpaid for a few weeks after the meal): article
Statement from the paper’s editor Rod Savage

THE Sunday Times has clear editorial standards which demand accuracy and transparency. Regrettably a recent food review by Chloe James and Kelly Ramsay did not meet those standards, so we will no longer be using them as contributors to our publications. We will not be commenting further on this matter.

Kelly’s explanation on the controversy can be found here

I’m just saying it seems the same person x3. Getting too coincidental that each round the person they are editing as the villain are all so similar. It feels like they’ve found their perfect mould of a villain and are either encouraging them to act that way or they are there to act that way. Let me guess that she will be the last person to cook this round as well?

Also not sure what Laurina has to do with anything. It’s a completely different show, there’s nobody else on the show like her her and she is naturally a villain. The show is not filmed in advanced and not so scripted either.

Come on, mate. These reality shows manipulate these contestants equally. It has come out in the media repeatedly this year that the producers have had heaps of contact with the I’m A Celeb contestants all along the way, from telling them to cut down on the swearing to giving them cigarette breaks off screen and persuading contestants not to quit when they’ve asked to leave.

Can’t you just enjoy your favourite show and let other people enjoy their favourite show without the need to keep bagging it?

Hardly the same manipulation as what we see on MKR. I’m a Celeb has even shown off-screen scenes this year of the producers persuading contestants to, for example, complete a trial.

You love discussing what others are discussing at the watercooler, so let me say that everyone I speak to is acutely aware of the MKR manipulation - all its forms, the (not) contestant’s houses, the recipes they’ve never cooked before, the ingredients which they can’t source, using snippets out of order and context to be deliberately misleading, Pete and Manu often having comments which vary from contestant tasting when it comes to saving/dumping certain contestants etc.

In contrast, no one has said any of these things about I’m a Celeb, even factoring in the ratings / lower proportion of people that would be watching in the first place. I’m sure you’ll tell me you have heard such comments… (yeah right).

Enjoy your favourite show without expecting everyone to be complete dopeys and not see, hear, believe what’s right in front of them. You’re expecting us to be complete drongos with no intelligent thought.

Oh and one more thing - reality shows manipulate contestants - MKR manipulates the viewer at home.

She’s actually already cooked and felt the other teams scored her instant restaurant harshly given they only had one bad course which was the main so she is being highly critical and outspoken in response to this.

Nobody in my workplace watches I’m A Celeb or is willing to admit it. I have only heard negative comments about or people wondering what sort of people watch it? MKR also gets criticised for its content but it also has its fans.

I am not denying that MKR producers manipulate the competition or viewers! I am saying that it’s happening in ALL reality shows and if you you think it’s not happening in your favourite show then you’re kidding yourself.

The thing is, the viewers find MKR more entertaining and often it has THREE times the number of viewers of its competitors.

Well I’m an MKR tragic fan and yes the show has its flaws but the reason I keep watching it is I enjoy it. It’s fun to watch, even the bitchiness although i kinda wish they got over it a bit but it’s entertaining. Not to mention the food too. Some of it has been very very good.

I love Rachel Khoo too. She’s a breath of fresh air to the show and her criticism is awesome. She tells the contestants how to do better and gives them pointers even though she scores fairly too. I think her and Colin are a great mix and she’s a great get for the show. I hope she will return next season. . Unfortunately I think Group 3 is rating lower because the teams are not the best IMO. I’m not that impressed with group 3 overall to be honest. They’re bland as a foodie would say even the bickering there is no substance. At least from what I’ve seen. Group 1 was clearly the standout this season for me.

Yes I knew you’d twist any reference to I’m a Celeb this that way and the other. Haha!

Agree, and that’s why I explained how it happens to a much greater extent in MKR.

Your argument is that…oh all news bulletins contain news…“nothing to see here”. And wow Seven News rates three times as highly as ABC News so it must be good! No discussion as to quality or bias etc.

So what. Big Bang Theory often had as many viewers as MKR. Trashy American sit com though.

Stating the facts. You’re blinded by your love for that show. I’m being critical of all reality shows but you can’t see past it.

Not saying anything is “good” because it rates higher. I’m saying it is more “popular” whether you or I like it or not. MKR is a lot more popular. Fact.

There will be another instant restaurant round featuring the bottom 2 teams of each group (who weren’t eliminated) after group 3 concludes, like last year. Foxtel EPG

Yawn.

They need to find a way to improve the ratings of the studio rounds rather than just dragging the instant restaurants out into oblivion.

I agree it becomes a little dragged out and boring. Ratings are declining and they will probably decline further after Easter.

I think they need to have a different sort of round next (such as pop-up restaurants) to eliminate three of the weakest teams and then go back to the instant restaurant round to eliminate more.

milking that ratings cow beyond belief…

Not facts at all. I was referring to your comments as to what you had ‘heard’ people saying about I’m a Celeb around the water cooler. You knew I was referring to this because I actually said it in my original reply to you.

If for some reason you categorise your small sample of water cooler comments of people complaining about a show noone is watching (I’m a Celeb) as facts, then please also categorise my comments, and Chris’ and everyone else’s all over Australia that also complain about MKR manipulation.

You can’t say one is a fact…and not the other!! Hahaha.

Also, I don’t love I’m a Celeb, so I’m not blinded by anything. Just tired of you brushing under the rug anything rotten with this show because ‘it’s popular’.

Oh thanks for that awesome fact Sherlock. I wouldn’t have been aware otherwise. MKR rating more highly than I’m a Celeb? Get out of here, no way!

So, that negates all discussion as to quality?

Let’s just turn this thread into an MKR is a “lot more popular” thread then.

MKR is a lot more popular. Fact. MKR is a lot more popular. Fact. MKR is a lot more popular. Fact.

Because any other comment is tossed aside with this as the response? Discussion kind of gets boring and silly without some depth to it, doesn’t it?

The comment wasn’t tossed aside. For the umpteenth time. All reality shows are contrived and manipulative to some extend. No denial. Sorry but your arguments just go round and round in circles and never get us anywhere @Firetorch. That’s what’s boring and silly. Yawn!

It turned out Lauren did not try Hazel and Lisa’s entree after Lauren found hair on the plate (although the controversy was blown out of proportion). She did try the main and the cake dessert.
I felt quite sorry for Hazel and Lisa, they spent too much time on beef wellington only to have soggy bottom and medium cooked beef. Had they started baking before the guests arrived, the result might have been different.

My arguments go round and round in circles? I don’t think so.

I mean, Chris had the utter audacity to post a comment in this My Kitchen Rules thread about…shock…My Kitchen Rules… and this has been your response:

I don’t need an umpteenth comment about I’m a Celeb.

We’re talking about MKR in this MKR thread. Some parts of MKR suck. Deal with it. :stuck_out_tongue:
