Just Friends…

Or a match made for MKR kitchen?

The piping-hot chemistry between best friends Tommy and Rach might set tongues wagging, but are they an A-team in the kitchen? Find out when My Kitchen Rules launches on Channel 7 and 7plus.

The Melbourne-based housemates often get mistaken for a loved-up couple with the amount of affectionate touches and glances they share. The truth? They are just friends.

Tommy says: “Our relationship is almost as if we are dating. It’s a little bit complicated.”

“We are not in a relationship romantically,” adds Rach.

Both agree they couldn’t think of competing in MKR with anyone but each other. Is friendship the secret ingredient to win MKR?

Tommy and Rach are representing Western Australia: Rach’s home state.

MKR features co-hosts and judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge travelling across the country to meet Australia’s most passionate home cooks – real people, cooking real food, in their own homes – before International superstar Nigella Lawson joins them as judge in Kitchen HQ.

MKR is produced by ITV Studios for the Seven Network.

Promo

I can see what Seven have done this year, after some success and some disappointment (season dependant) the last few years, by moving them away from Married (where just about everything on Nine dominates for a few months), using raters Farmer and DWTS to grab back audience and win over Nine before their biggest is rolled out after WTC / FIFA World Cup / Logies in Voice and using these other shows in Q3 and Q4.

The only problem is, wouldn’t it have been safer for Seven to have one or two of the already aired to go up against Nine’s Block (which always does well and we have to presume this season will too and airing earlier this year) because there’s no good ratings guarentees with SAS, MKR and BB. Unless they hold MKR until Q4 (late October and November when Block has finished) which I’d guess is going to be the higher/more consistent rater of those three.

They’ll be hoping Voice bolts out of the gates and for a weaker start for Block. But I don’t see that happening, not at all like 2021 after Tokyo Olympics which was quite an incredible month or so ‘halo’.

Tears and tributes

Twin power play in MKR kitchen

Inseparable identical twins Radha and Prabha can read each other’s minds, but will their telepathic powers prove a competitive advantage the kitchen? Find out when My Kitchen Rules launches on Channel 7 and 7plus.

Being in sync is not their only superpower, the Sydney-based sisters did the unthinkable and left Colin Fassnidge – the toughest judge to impress – in tears, when they served their late dad’s favourite dish in their instant restaurant.

“We lost our dad when we were two. Every time we cook a dish, it reminds us of him,” the twins said. “We were able to give tribute to our dad.”

MKR features co-hosts and judges Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge travelling across the country to meet Australia’s most passionate home cooks – real people, cooking real food, in their own homes – before international superstar Nigella Lawson joins them as judge in Kitchen HQ.

They have absolutely moved away from the more “classier” font of last season and reverted back to the very bold type featured here.

The contestants are all boring everything we have seen before

Agreed, they’ve just brought back the exact show that failed in 2020.

That annoying song with lyrics "I am your mother listen to me " was cringey of what i saw on an ad on 7Plus.

That’s Meghan Trainor all over. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It’s been revealed tonight as Coco and Pearls.

The new Ash and Camilla?

Wasn’t going to watch - after see these two together
Mkr - differently not for me again.

Pretty sure Seven used the “I wanna be like you” song in a MKR team promo (back when they ran non stop during the Australian Open) in maybe 2013?

The show returns Monday September 4.
