Not that it would help the show recover but how about something more radical if they (ever) have a next season:
Drop the stupid ‘RIVALS’ format and return to what worked. Aka instant restaurants at home
Have each pair cook all courses and get them ready when the guests arrive. Serve the meals immediately after arrival and serve the three courses one after the other so that there’s less opportunities for bitching and drama.
They will do another season. Masterchef fell a few years back. 10 went back to basics and fixed it and it rated well again. 7 would be mad to just get rid of MKR. They just need to remove it from Q1 and go back to what made it so successful a few years back.
I’ve been watching Australian Survivor and Married at First Sight on the night of airing and recording My Kitchen Rules for the weekend as 3 shows a night is way too much.
How have I managed not to be spoiled of any information of the past week or even the identity of the eliminated team?
You listen to breakfast radio, you hear about Married at First Sight and Survivor the next morning. I haven’t heard a single thing about My Kitchen Rules.
It just goes to show that there are other marketing avenues that Seven just aren’t using.
Times gone by I definitely would have been spoiled way before getting to watching these episodes tonight.
The reason is more likely that the Breakfast radio shows have no interest in talking about MKR.
Fitzy and Wippa spoke to eliminated contestants religiously because they watched the show too. But they stopped doing that last season when they started watching MAFS instead. Part of the reason is that they know some contestants who are former Nova employees in Publicity.
They’ve had Colin on twice this year but that’s more because they are friends with him now and discussing MKR was only part of the convoersation.
It’s past it’s heyday. That said, never say never, I would’ve thought The Block and The Voice were on their last legs a few years ago but they seem to have regenerated a bit.
