I didn’t know much of “Parasite” prior to today’s Oscars other than it won “Best Asian Film” at the AACTA Awards in early December 2019.
There hasn’t much hype to the film here in Australia.

Parasite is excellent and deserves all the accolades.
Hasty change as Margot’s film flops:
Song is being released 4pm PT tomorrow, which I believe is midday Friday our time.
There’s a short sample on the 007 and Billie Eilish Facebook pages.
The full song. I feel it has shades of Skyfall by Adele.
It’s a prerequisite that they have to partly sound like or be inspired by the James Bond theme. I thought it sounded like the Sam Smith one The Writing’s on the Wall.
Interesting report attributed to director Rian Johnson that Apple will not allow “villains” in movies to have an Apple phone. This is getting reported on most breakfast radio shows this morning so should make the rounds of TV shows as well.
That means if you see anyone in a movie with an Apple phone they are not the bad guy. Will make re-watching movies interesting to check out the revelation.
Here’s one report.
i have seen some advertisement/trailers for “The Invisible Man” lately on the telly. Looks like an okay movie. Found out that its a partial Australian movie. Just wished that the media advertise ALL Australian movies in general, and not just the ones that are partially backed by us Aussies.
It was filmed in Australia and has an Aussie director but does that make it an Australian movie? No.
I rarely go to the cinema but I’m keen to see this based on the fact parts of it were filmed around places I frequented as a kid- Kiama and Gerringong. Got a little excited when I saw some familiar coastline in the trailers.
It reminds me of The Great Gatsby, which was filmed in and around Sydney and had an Aussie director. It was not an Aussie movie but won 12 AACTA Awards in January 2014.
I saw it a couple of weeks ago it’s not great but I don’t rate any Blumhouse movies highly, Fantasy Island was terrible.
The release of the latest 007 movie has been pushed back by seven months due to coronavirus.
Peter Rabbit 2 has joined No Time to Die in delaying its cinema release for several months. Disney’s Mulan also delayed its release across Asia but I think the Australian release is still on track.
Late last night I noticed Event Cinemas has omitted Peter Rabbit 2 from the “Coming Soon” section of the website.
EDIT: Peter Rabbit 2 will now open in Australia on September 10.
this is from the regent multiplex here in ballarat:
Peter Rabbit Sequel The Latest Target Of Coronavirus Re-Scheduling - pushed out to August release.
Interesting, I’ve already seen merch in stores for this film!
Adverts still running on television tonight for a March premiere.
