Sequels don’t always do better. It’s usually the opposite.
But you’re missing the point. It’s still the seventh-best opening weekend in Australian history and that’s not negative as the article headline suggests. It’s still one of the best ever.
When Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle attracted good ratings on its FTA premiere on Nine in late November I predicted the sequel would be a box office hit, and I was right.
Watched the Jay & Silent Bob reboot last night. It’s not going to win any awards but for fans of the series it’s a good watch, full of self-referencing humour and some great cameos
All of Australia’s major cinema chains (Hoyts, Village, Event, Palace, United and Reading) will hold an industry-wide bushfire appeal this Sunday, January 19, with $2 from every ticket sold donated to bushfire relief efforts. The donations will split between Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recover Fund, RSPCA Bushfire Appeal and The Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal.
Went and saw Bombshell last night, there was 5 of us in the cinema at the 9pm session. Was probably one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Was very raw and real, Nicole Kidman & Margot Robbie really made that movie shine.
Even though how disgusting and creepy the storyline was it one of those really you need to see it to believe you, shakes you to the core. I got sweats and a bit of anxiety in some bits as you could feel for them. Anyway 5 stars! Like to hear from anyone else who’s seen it and their thoughts.
Anyone surprised by the performance of South Korean movie Parasite at this year’s Oscars? It became the first non-English title to win best picture. It also won another three awards (best director, best original screenplay and best international feature film. In some way it had a bigger achievement than another Asian film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon which also won four Oscars (best foreign language film, best art direction, best original score and best cinematography).
