I notice that 9GO! will show Disney/Pixar hit Toy Story on Friday week (May 3) at 7.30pm.
Nice bit of rival network programming (or coincidental but unlikely) with the original Blade Runner airing on NITV tonight, while Channel 7/7mate are showing Blade Runner 2049 later in the evening. They will unfortunately overlap eventually however.
HA. I was just looking at the guides, and noticed the Blade Runner “double” and was going to post the same thing, but you beat me to it. lol.
Doesn’t happen often that a franchise/prequels air on the same night, on different channels.
It has happened over the years though, especially between Seven and Nine programmers, such as if movie franchises had entries with different distributors or rights to entries were split across networks

Also, on another point, SBS seem to be replaying the same movies on a different channel (like the much higher rating World Movies) after it aired on say NITV a nights/weeks prior. Kill Bill another example tonight. Could be to do with that Australian TV licencing thing where networks apparently get a ‘free’ or fee reduction run if the same title they have rights to is ‘encored’ within a specific time frame. Often happens with Channel 7 > 7flix and Channel 9 > 9Go! too.
Wednesday 8 May 8:30 pm Nickelodeon
Friday 10 May Midday Nine
Saturday 11 May 9:45 pm 7Flix
Saturday 11 May 11:15 pm Nine
Two underrated modern classics on FTA tonight, 1986 teen crime drama Rivers Edge starring a very young Keanu Reeves, “Back To The Future” star Crispin Glover & the late great Dennis Hopper on NITV and 1994 romantic drama Reality Bites starring Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke & Ben Stiller (also director) on 7Bravo.
IIRC, this is the first time 9GO! Has aired a Disney/Pixar film since 2019 after Channel 9’s deal with Disney ended as they had a placeholder deal to have the Disney/Pixar/Marvel Studios films on STAN in 2018/19 before Disney+ launched in Australia in November of that year.
I hadn’t seen this before, but apparently it’s been in use on at least this movie since its 2005 remaster… As seen on 7flix tonight (also an old network file) the 80s Columbia opening logo but with the late 90s fanfare, it was somewhat jarring, so strange, yet oddly fits . Stripes (1981).

I think it’s a decent enough movie, let down by some corny dialog. But the overall storyline is pretty good. Action and special effects are good (looks so-so on normal tv having seen the FTA broadcast version previously. But they are stellar on bluray and 4K).
Worth a watch, I might just put my physical copy on to avoid the commercials
I remember this was one of the last movies that was at the old earlier time on Seven during Saturdays of 8:30pm / 9pm and with a promo (now very rare or non-existant in both cases).
Since COVID, the first movie now starts at 7:30pm (instead of 7pm after the news), with Border at 7pm, pushing the next movie out to closer to 10pm, but is often later.
The night it premiered, early 2021 IIRC, was also affected in some markets (in some cases never aired or even again) by a major news event, I feel it was a Royal death. The other movies or premieres around this week(s) were the first runs of the God awful Holmes vs Watson, Storm Boy, A Dogs Way Home and a Walt Disney re-run of Maleficent.
Saturday 1 June 7:30 pm Seven/7Mate (originally scheduled for early February)

The two Storm Boy movies (original and remake) head-to-head tonight in the same timeslot, a cheeky bit of programming, on NITV and 7flix respectively.
