10 Bold - Wednesday 18 May 10.25 PM
Note: the movie’s original title in China is Air Strike (Mandarin: Da hong zha).
Nine’s movie after the election coverage on Saturday is Truth. It is the same movie that was scheduled after the 2019 Federal election.
Seven - Thursday 2 June 8.30 PM (Sydney, Brisbane) / 10pm (Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth)
UPDATE: now out of schedule
Started at 12:30 am
And noticed Seven dropped theirs (Taking of Pelham 1 2 3), just brought forward V8s after midnight, as coverage went more than an hour over.
9GO! - Tuesday 31 May 9.50 PM
Watching 1917 on 7mate. What a fantastic movie. But there was a scene where a tiny explosive went off in a mine, right in front of two young soldiers. Seven cut straight to an ad, then upon return from the ad, they re-played the preceding 20sec that they already showed before. Was this an error? Or intentional, so the placement was suspense value leaving the audience wanting to see the result/aftermath of the soldiers, but at the same time awkward returning from an ad mid-explosion which mightn’t have made sense to anyone just tuning-in or even those watching for continuity, so decided to re-play the lead-up to it? If the latter, I just think that’s stupid placement.
Saturday 9 July 7:30 PM - Seven (7Mate Melbourne and Adelaide).
This will be the first Walt Disney Pictures FTA premiere since before Disney Plus launched, since “Black Panther” on Nine in January 2020 (when they had rights for a year) and Seven’s first since “The Good Dinosaur” in September 2019.
Disney must’ve changed their strategy now that Disney+ has been available for some time and/or maybe Seven really wanted to pay for it. Surely it won’t just be this? I wonder what other Walt Disney titles may return or premiere, a ‘Marvel’ catalogue may be likely.
I think Zootopia (2016) aired on 7flix a few weeks ago. Disney+ uses the UK title for the film, Zootropolis.
I think that’s re-runs from their previous deal, premiered on Saturday 24 March 2018, been airing regularly since.
Surely not?
It’s Zootopia on my Disney+.
He’s not wrong, mine (but haven’t had a sub for a while) also had “Zootropolis”, though I think just the thumbnail/ menu wording, the actual version when played was for the Aus/Nz territory with the correct “Zootopia” in the opening credits.
Sunday 10 July 9:30 PM on Seven
I notice that 10 Shake will show The Matrix next Tuesday (July 12) at 8.30pm. That and the other two titles (The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions) aired on 9GO! earlier this year. Did 10 buy the rights from distributor Roadshow in a different deal?
10 aired them a couple of years ago.
Saturday 23 July on Seven 7:30 PM (Syd, Aadel, Perth) 7Mate 7:00 PM (Mel, Bri).
You may have just got the answer with the upcoming FTA broadcast of Toy Story 4.
an update on this
I noticed last night, it appears to be a sponsorship tie-in, as there was a special sponsor billboard (V/O by Matt Wills who doesn’t usually do them) in-between Border finishing and Captain Marvel starting, saying “tonight’s movie brought to you by Ms Marvel now streaming on Disney Plus”.
So perhaps Disney agreeing in new TV licencing with Seven, was a collaborative arrangement, in that Disney Australia will provide sponsorship for the timeslots/ advertising Disney Plus?
